Aliens, zerg and the like were my beloved critters for my whole life, and tyranids were an obvious choice when i got my claws on 40k.
With advent of new codex i fancied to try something whole different from what i played in 3 &4 eds - a full reserve tyrnid list.
the list is costructed as a tournei one, I had quite a success with it on local scene, but it's quite small &mostly noob so it doesnt say much to me.
Hive Tyrant (Lwhip, Bsword, 2-l Devourer, Paraxism,Leech Essence, Wings, HiveCommander) 270
2 Zoanthropes 120 + Micetic Spore (Barbed Strangler) 55
3 Zoanthropes 180 + Micetic Spore (Barbed Strangler) 55
Doom of Malantay 90 + Micetic Spore (cluster spines) 50
17 Hormogaunts (TS, AG) 170
10 Genestealers (TS, Broodlord w Scything talons) 216
2*3 Tyranid Shrikes (Scything talons, Bonesword & lashwhip, TS) 165*2
Trygon (AG) 210
All go reserve DS, stealers &Hormogaunts (thanks hive commander) outflank;
when baddies start dropping, i deploy mishapping units (tyrant & shrikes) first, safe distance from the enemy, then drop spores with Zoants & trygon between them & foes to give em cover; doom is dropped as near to the enemies as possible and works at least as HATE(=fire) magnet; tyrant & shrikes thus get respite from being shot and get good chance to reach enemyes unscarred; barbed stranglers on Spores might seem strange, but were chosen over Clusterspines for chance to pin squads.
What do you think? what problems this list will have on proper competitive scene and how it could be improved to overcome those shortcomings?
