Dual-Core 3.06GHz CPU
4GB RAM
512Mb Graphics Card (Supports Dx10)
OS: Windows XP, SP3

Only bit I'm worried about is the OS. Should I aim to upgrade before release? I'm not really fussed whether it's supported, just whether it will actually run.
Anybody that was in the Alpha able to tell me anything? I'm gonna try it when the Open Beta comes out, and if that works, I'm gonna assume that the full version will.

Sadly the system requirements state otherwise.

Furthermore, Win7 is a great upgrade and only costs $100. It's worth it, even for an older computer.

I said I'm not worried about support, just whether it will actually run. You just skimmed my post, right?

Win7 may be a great upgrade, but honestly, I'm 14. Chances of getting $100 before release: 0%. Furthermore, it's closer to $150 over in OzLand.

Honestly, I know what you're referring to, and I'm sure most others do. I have never, and don't intend to get it that way. Even if that is how Microsoft operates.

I've always had legal versions, for some reason I always buy a new pc right when the new OS rears it's ugly head. So I get it for free with the rig.

whats your graphics card? mine is a Nvidia 9400 GT, (not for much longer though 2 years of saving out the window in a blink of an eye) if your card is better than a 9800 GT you "should" be in the green for low-mediam graphics. but hay, save up for the 460 GTX and onwards. those cards are BEASTS!

There. So you will somehow need to obtain a copy of Win7.

Good. Finally kill off XP. Yes, it's stable. But having a 10-year-old OS is just impeding progress.

This was after 2 min on google- not sure if it works as I have 7 and dx11 but ya never know

Download DirectX 10 for Windows XP from Alky Project

Download DirectX 10 for Windows XP is available now. You can download it ( Directx 10 for XP ) as the alpha version is said to be working by some users. It is said to work for Windows XP and with directx 10 games and graphics card, they should be able to play directx 10 compatible games like they play in Microsoft’s Windows Vista

Alky Project has released a preview of Alky compatibility libraries for Microsoft DirectX 10 enabled games. This can be used for Windows Operating system other than Vista to play games which requires Directx 10 / Direct X 10. This project was aimed to make DirectX 10 compatible games to run on Non Vista operating systems.

Cody Brocious, Lead Alky Engineer have released a DirectX 10 Alky preview which can be used with DX10 SDK. ( You can skip this and use DX 10 RC3 Installer directly below)

Update : We have found another patch

DirectX 10 RC2 Fix 3 – a patch to increase the compatibility of new games and programs with Windows XP, Windows 200 and Windows 2003. Here is an in detail tutorial for this : How to Install Directx 10 RC2 Pre Fix 3

Yeah, looks like I'm gonna be getting Win7. Apparently because I completed one course at the TAFE, I can get it for free from them...

Nightfall - Nvidia 8800 GS. According to my googling, that's worse, but not much worse.

Yeah, an 8800 GS will possibly run it on low, but don't count on it.

Yeah...I'm not worried about quality, just whether it can run. As soon as I get a job, plastic crack and a new computer are the first things I"m buying.
