Hey, just wondering which color Salamanders jump packs should be. My gut says all black, but I don't know for sure.

Green.

according to my codex: armageddon (the mini codex that came out when the 3rd war for armageddon was happening) it should be black

Black...and dont paint thier faces coal black with red eyes. Thank You Political correctness, but no. African Marines with one of the best SCs and cool paint schemes in the game are not weird Onyx skinned freaks.

I'm well aware one of them is white, but neither is coal black, and that's what really matters.

I thought salamanders were jet black with red eyes. In the codex astartes, they are described as such and they have stopped several rebellions simply by looking like demons.

Regular Space Marines have a gland that alters their skin colour to suit the environment they are currently in.

Salamanders were originally described as having dark skin due to a mutation of that gland that stopped it working properly. At this point in time, the 'official' models had dark brown skin.

That was eventually retconned to the current jet-black skin.




For the original question, I would go with the black jump pack. Works better with the colour scheme and helps them to stand apart from Dark Angels.

Total retcon brotha. Originally Sallies were just more marines, then the studio artists made them predominantly dark skinned. Then the PC monster reared it's ugly head and we have jet black freakazoids.

Im going old school, dark skin, as well as a few fair skined models for flavor, though most have helmets so far

So, why have there never been the odd dark skinned marine in other chapters? Is the entire emperium white?

I immedately thought Mr. T. and Black Dynamite would be located with the Salamanders. That would be epic. Anyway black jump packs!

Rogue trader had pictures of painted sallies with very dark grey skin. There are a couple of them on the salamanders lexicanum page.

I went with both black and green to match the regular back packs. The Top part with exhausts is black and the 'body' is green. I was tempted to paint the nozzles black but went with metal.



So if the regular marines back packs are a certain way, mirror it as these are back packs too.

You can paint them whatever colour you like but according the the current SM codex they have jet black skin and red eyes...

I think the Salamander Jump Packs should be black. It'll help break up the rest of the green on their power armor.. and in my opinion just looks better.

I never heard of black jump packs on Salamanders. I belive they should be Green, but the fluff might say otherwise.

The pictures in C:SM have them with black jump packs, and the jump packs in the new game Space Marine are also black. I am going to paint my as black when I get to them myself.

Contrast. A lot of times the back pack is the same color as the shoulder pads, which isn't as noticeable a lot of times or not followed by everyone.

Acording to C:SM they should be black (pg 113)

but personally I like green bits on the front.

Black with some parts being green
