Hey there, it's n00b time again. Last time I came on for help with a 500 pt Ork army, and I have to say that the help was great. I ended up going 1-4, due to being still new and also fielding Killa Kanz (not as many vehicles as I had hoped there would be, my Lootas pretty much handled anything thrown at me, including Eldar jet bikes) when I should have been replacing them with a second squad of Lootas, like I was told. Heheh, needless to say, I learned my mistake, and I have complete faith in you guys now.

So here's the new deal. 1000 pt tournament, no special rules. Currently, I'm trying to decide on bringing an Ork or Chaos army, plus I could still use a little help hammering out the lists for each. No idea what I'll be facing, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

1000 pt Chaos

HQ
  • DP- 155
    w/ Wings, Warptime

  • Troops
  • CSM x 10- 210
    w/ Flamers x 2, Rhino, Extra Armor
  • Berzerkers x 10- 260
    w/ Rhino, Extra Armor

  • Heavy
  • Predator- 150
    w/ H. Bolters, TL Lascannons
  • Obliterators x 3- 225

  • 1000 pt Ork

    HQ
  • Warboss- 150
w/ Bike, Cybork Body, PK, Attack Squig
  • Big Mek - 85 Points
    w/ KFF

  • Elites
  • Lootas x 12- 180

  • Troops
  • Boys x 30- 220
    w/ Shootas, PK Nob, Bosspole
  • Boys x 30- 220
    w/ Shootas, PK Nob, Bosspole

  • Fast Attack
  • Stormboyz x 8- 136
    w/ PK Nob, Bosspole

  • Do these sound good? One sound a little better than the other? Let me know; Biases always welcome.

I like the Ork List, you have alot of boys, and the Mek will protect them. Also the lootas are a good at covering fire and are able to take out light tanks. Id swap the stormboys though, they will just get hammerd and you can run somthing else, eg deffkoppta or warbuggie. Or get a few bikes to go with the warboss.

I honestly think your Ork list is better.

The crippling factor to Chaos (IMO) is the lack of 'And They Shall Know No Fear'. You have your Cult troops at Fearless and your HQs that don't have to worry about morale, but /every/ other unit has to deal with Morale issues (barring vehicles).

Your chaos list might be better with a 2nd DP. Replace the CSMs with a 6 man Plague marine unit with two meltas. Drop the Extra armor and the Pred and go one Oblit in each heavy slot. If you have the points, consider getting champs and fists and maybe Havoc Launchers or combi-meltas on your Rhinos just for some extra firepower.

For your Orks, I would seriously consider replacing the Stormboys with 3-5 Nob Bikers to ride with your Boss. Plus, now they are troops and Scoring.

I definitely see your points, thanks for posting!

So, what we should be looking at, is something like:

    990 pt Ork

    HQ
  • Warboss- 150
w/ Bike, Cybork Body, PK, Attack Squig
  • Big Mek - 85 Points
    w/ KFF

  • Elites
  • Lootas x 12- 180

  • Troops
  • Boys x 30- 220
    w/ Shootas, PK Nob, Bosspole
  • Boys x 30- 220
    w/ Shootas, PK Nob, Bosspole
  • Nobz x 3- 135
    w/ Bikes

  • How do these sound? Any ideas for the 10 extra points would be great

Shameless self bump, and also, screw Chaos, the points are too low for this tournament to field a good army with them. Now, how do these Orky Bad Boyz look?

Get a big choppa and a combi-Schorcha for two of the Nobs... now you have every fig having a different load-out for wound allocation. The BC gives you a good high Str weapon at a higher Init for walker/vehicle krumping and the Schorcha gives you something for cover save based troops (scouts, Rangers, ect) or hoards (IG blob, Nids, Orks, ect).

I would be tempted on reducing some of the boys to give cybork bodies to the Nobs for invuln saves in CC, but it may work as is. Play it a few times and see how it works for you.

That list should do well if your tactics remain solid and everything works out

I hope so. I already went out and bought $200 worth of Orks for it hahaha.

So, just shoot and charge with the boys, having the Big Mek in between both blobs so they can both benefit, and then have the bikes ride around busting tanks, along with the Lootas setting up for some support against whatever. Sound good?

Souns perfect, the warboss on the bike will rip apart a tank with ease and at toughness 6 on the bike hes a tough one, and yeah with the boys, just run run and keep running, just hope the big mek doesnt get killed.

I'll probably set up the Big Mek behind the others. 4+ cover save is always better than 5+!

One concern here is that your Warboss/Nob Bikers are arriving ahead of the foot-sloggers. In less competitive games this may be okay, but it is a poor tactical setup, without other units to back it up.

Instead of 3 Nob Bikers, you could go 4 Warbikers w/Nob Upgrade and add a Shoota/Skorcha to your warboss. If you drop the Nob Bikers, it's one less scoring unit. You get one more set of Dakkaguns, plus another PK! Or take

You can always purchase a single Deffkopta to run with a Biker Warboss, And you'll benefit from a T6(50/50 split so higher takes precedence) unit for a couple wounds while the Kopta takes hits.

Depending on how set you are with the Biker Boss, you could drop the bike, and instead of nob bikerz or stormboyz, take another unit of 24 Boyz w/ a Nob upgrade w/PK, BP. This would complete it as an effective Green Tide list.

If you want to keep the Biker Boss as a tank threat, and just have a fun time, I'd drop the nob bikers, add a deffkopta w/rokkits as a damage screen(T6!) that can shoot and threaten a tank, add another rokkit kopta w/buzzsaw(scout move turbo and threaten tanks again), and with the last 30 points, add 3 rokkit launchas to one mob of boyz so THEY can threaten tanks as well!

Simple Big Mek Solution: Instead of putting him in between the two boyz squads, attach him to one and just put him close to the other squad, both squads benefit, and he now has 32 wounds!

Yeah, just re-read the thread. He won't get killed until you get to CC. Attach him to a unit of boyz, you're good.
