Subject: Good RTSs, on a aging PC/nick mac?

I have played DOW: Dark Crusade, Age Of Mythology Mac edition, and enjoyed them. I own Age Of Empires PC edition, I have not tried it yet, is it better or worse than Age Of Mythology?
I have an aging PC, as our family has switched to Macs. Does anybody know any good games for the Mac. Or not very harsh on your computer games for the PC?
Thanks for feedback.

I'm not sure, but I think you can run Starcraft 1 on mac. I don't have a mac so I'm not positive about what could be run on it.

Starcraft 1 I know can run on any PC I don't know if it's compatible with macs because it's an older game.

As for Starcraft, from what I have read up on them, they both work on Mac.

I preferred Age of Empires 2 to Age of Mythology. Both are good games though.

What video card do you have? Are you using Boot Camp?
I really enjoyed Supreme Commander & Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (I didn't care for Supcom 2, though).

Definitely +1 on Total Annihilation. The graphics are quite a bit dated at this point, but the gameplay is rock solid. This was the first RTS I got into in a really big way.

This Total Annihilation sounds like good stuff. And it would definitely work on my laptop. If it does not, there is a mac version too.
Thanks for feedback.

OH, something I completely forgot about, one of the best RTS games i know:
Knights and Merchants - The Peasants Rebellion.
Objective is your standard, build army, destroy enemy.
The twist? Building an army takes everything, you'll need food for EVERY living thing in your kingdom. You'll need woodcutters, a sawmill, ore mine and blacksmith just to make spears. Stuff like that, you really need to do everything that's needed for stuff. GREAT GAME!

More commonly known as MOBA like your link also says.
But honestly, you can't call it an RTS.

It's as much of an RTS as First Person Shooters are part of the Action genre.

Not really, RTS refers to the real time management and commanding of an army. Not a single character (with maybe some summons/charmed creeps).
Apart from the the controle scheme, the genres are nothing alike.

Sounds a lot like 'The Settlers' series of games.
Incidentally, I think the crowning glory was settlers 4 & the expansion, should run extremely well on an old PC (as it's ancient). Heritage of kings and later ones seem to go off into more tradition RTS approach which ruins the mechanic that settlers was famous for (i.e. you don't have any direct control over your workforce, only over your military)

Armies of Exigo was pretty good. Total Annihilation still works on old computers, and is EXCELLENT and still has a multiplayer community (most have moved to TA Springs, which may require more computational/graphics power).

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.
