This is the fluff for my Vanilla Marines, they are Blood Ravens, post Aurelia, but with a divergent fluff to the real ones, sort of a parralel version


Following the discovery of the Chapter Master's corruption, Aramus, Gabriel Angelos and some others fled to the only place they knew that they would be safe from Chaos- alongside the Grey Knights.

They ventured to the moon of Titan, and were allowed in. Only Gabriel Angelos' Daemon Hammer convinced them. They told their dark tale, and after Grand Master Mordrak declared them free from taint, though to the annoyance of some of the more zealous purifiers, granted them santuary on a nearby asteroid.

The Blood Ravens were destroyed. Of the first company, only 10 mariens remained, with 5 suits of Terminator amrour between them. The Captain of the 1st, Raphael Xiorphain, was appointed Chapter Master, and decreed that "never again would a Librarian lead the Blood Ravens, for to much power causes corruption. That was what happened to the arch-traitor, whose foul name shall not be said, and that is what has happened here."

Captain Angelos was appointed Captain of 2nd Company, and Aramus was finally appointed Captain of 5th. Numel Ternern, Captain of 9th Companyy, was all that was left of the Devastators.
Of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th companies, nothing remained.

Most of the 5th survived, though not enough.


To ensure that the Librarians of the Blood ravens would be pure, the Grey Knights promised that they would send their way, any recruits that they find, unsuitable to become Grey Knights, however, they still trained them, on the Asteroid known as Perditeron, the new fortress monastery of the Blood Ravens. If they found recriuts, that were Astartes material, buit possessed no psychic ability, were sent to the Blood Ravens to train as regular Marines.
Due to the proximity of the Blood ravens' new home to Mars, all their mechanical equipment comes directly from the Red Planet. As ther Blood Ravens currently have no Techmarines, or Techmarine potentials, within their ranks, an emissionary is ent once every month to repair and access their technology.

The Blood Ravens are deeply diminished, with only a few hundred marines suriving, however they have plenty vehicles.

Mid flight to Titan, an Ork fleet, small in size, but on its way to be an unstoppable Waaagh! ran into the Blood ravens fleets. In the ensueing Battle, the Space Marines were victorius, though only a single ship, the Armeggedon, survived. The Blood Ravens lost all of their Thunderhawks.

Becuase of this, the Grey Knioghts have made a gift of a single Stormraven Gunship to carry their Troops to and from a planet. Becasue they have but a single drop pod, the blood ravens are commonly acting in a supportting riole to the Grey Knights, tagging along with the fleets, and being delivered via Grey Knight Thunderhawk or Teleportation.


The Blood Ravens, as per the dictation of Castellan Crowe himself, for he did not want any Grey knights "mistaking", them for their trecherous bretheren, changed the colour of their armour.

They now wear armour the clour of blood, with their left knee cap or shine black as coals. Their pauldrons are either yellow or bleached bone, with the shoulder edging the clours of the Company. White and silver for Veterans, gold for second Company, red for 3rd, green for 4th, black for 5th, and so on.


The Blood ravens have but 1 request, for the did not ask for the generousness of the Grey Knights, just a place to call home., away from those who would destroy them for their dark brothers. They ask that whern the time comes, the Grey knights will not interfeer, and the New Blood ravens will destroy the old Traitors.

Chapter Master

The Chapter Master is the newly appointed, formwer captain of 1st Company, Raphael Xiorphian. Raphael is already a good leader, and is popular with the chapter. He also performs the role of Captain for the 1st company, or what is left of it.

Honour Guard

4 members of the Honour Guard remained uncorrupt. The Blood Ravens managed to steal the chapter banner, and Honoured brother Killjum bears it into battle. Brothers Temorma and Ignotiam were among the most reveared elders of the chapter, and between the two, the had racked up an impressive tally of 48 Iron Skulls, 5Iron Haloes, 92 Marksmen Honour badges, and had been blessed with over 5000 purity seals.

Chapter Champion

Marterol Vertop is the current Chapter Champion, engaging the enemy warlords in comabt so that Raphael can command his Chapter

Chaplain Palmarius

Chaplain Palmarius is currently inconpacitated, as Apothecary Gordian fights for his life, Palmarius teaches they new students of ther Blood Ravens. As the only Chaplain in the chapter, he has been given the dual role of Master of Santicty and Reclusiarch

Chief Librarian Niven
As the senior of the two living Librairans, he has been given the honour of Chief Librarian, though heis not pleased, given recent events.

Lexicanium Konan
He provides the Blood Ravens and provides the Armageddon with its Astropath.

Termionator Squad Yukesmo

Sgt Yukesmo is currently the oldest member of the chapter and leads his squad, the 5 remaining Terminator armoured brothers of the escape, with distintion.

Veteran Squad Keruno

Crack shots and loyal as any Astartes should aspire to be, tghe 5 Sternguard Veterans of Squad Keruno are of 10 remaining members of the 1st company.

Captain Angelos, Captain of the 2nd company
Gabriel's 3rd company was among the first to rebel against the Chapter Master, and their corrupted brothers slew them where theym stood. He was promoted to Captain iof 2nd, also destroyed, upon the arrival on Titan. His Daemon hamer, broken upon the iron hide of a Land Raider, is being repaired by the Grey Knights' armoury, but in the maen tiome, he wields a sword, forged for him from the people of Diasgetire, as a thankm you for liberating rthem from Dark Eldar Raiders. The blade is sharp enough to cut steel like butter, and the power field surrounding the blade has seen Tyranid Trygons and Ork warbosses fall with a single, decapitating stroke.

Captain Aramus
Newly appointted, he still wields the Relic Blade known as Wisdom. His bolter was masterfully converted to house a melta charge. tyhe Bolter is loaded with Hellfire rounds, to remind him of his homeworld Meridian, and its almost destruction at the hands of the Great Devourer.

Squad Merin
One of 2 surviving Tactical squads, it is not in great need of new members, as ten amrines survived.

Squad Cirrac
Like squad Merin, this tactical squad is likewise at full strength.

Assault squad Thaddeus
Led by Aramus's good friend, and hailing also from Meridian, in fact having been the only 2 members to surve the same Blood Trials.Thaddeus' squad also contains Brother Phobius, one of the two boys Thaddeus found on Meridian. he shows great promise.

Devastator Squad Avitus
Having lost his neck and jaw to a Norn Queen, he felt the need to take on a Hive Tyrant one on one. He lost his left arm and both of his legs, but he lives.

Command Squad
led by company Champion Siddig, this is the heart and soul of the 5th company, its members amongst the best in the 5th. The only Apothecary in the chapter, Gordian accompanies this squad into battle, and harvests the precious geneseed of the marines.

Scout Squad Cyrus
The revered Sgt Cyrus leads his 4 scout charges, and the squad includes Phobius' brother Phaeton.

Davian Thule, the Iron Clad.
Davian Thule' Dreadnought assembly was damaged in the battle with the ork fleet, and was, the first to have been so, transferred into another assembly. He now resides within an Ironclad Dreadnought, and is much needed assisstence for dealing with heavy armour

Numel Ternern, Captain of the 9th
Captain Ternern wields his favourite lightning Claw, and a plasma pistol. He rides the Nauglir Darkbreath, a lizard-like beast he tamed. It can run as fast, sometimes even faster, than a space marine bike, and the lack of impact from the bike is compensated by the snapping jaws of the beast.

Note that while the Grey Knights gifted this StormRaven to the Blood ravens, they did not allow them the use of Mind-Strike Missiles, Truesilver armour plating, "Psybolt", ammunition, but did install a warp stabilization saystem, allowing the Gunship to make small warp jumps.

Running to the GK for sanctuary... then being a supporting force for them...
Seems a touch... well Mary Sue kinda leaps to mind but they aren't quite there.
IMO SM are proud. They deal with internal problems on their own unless it draws attention to the Imperium as a whole. Also Angelos strikes me as the kinda guy to go down fighting against Chaos not to leg it, especially after what happened to his friend and his home planet.
Then again maybe you think otherwise...

As I said, it was an alternate background. Like in world 1, they all die, but in world 2, they all become puupies.

I know they are proud, period, becuase they are Astartes, but the Blood Ravens are smart, and guard knowledge, and they know that they need to back off and recover, because they can't fight a Chaos chapter wih a few companies. The gop to the GK, a bit I wrotywe simply so I could use Draigo and a Vindicare as allies, is because any where else, they would be assumed to be traitors, and even some purifiers believed that. The GK would be the ones who are non-existent, to all but a few, for example, the Space Wolves and Blood Ravens themselves, so that would be a safe haven for a contigent of loyalists of a half renegade chapter.


I should have mentioned this earlier, but this will expand along with my army, and I will add in more stuff as the days go on.

I still think that they would stand and fight.
In fact, given that they know how important knowledge is they would want to stick as close as possible to the Traitor half so they can follow what they do and learn from them and find out how to beat them.

Incidentally if you wanted to have the GK deature in their background you could simply say that the civil war became known to the Imperium and as the 2 sides wrestled the GK rocked up to assist in stopping the corrupted marines from opening a warp rift cue Draigo and Vindicares. (Draigo arrives through a smaller rift opened by a renegade Librarian and kills him whilst the Vindicare is despathed to assist in taking down the key leaders) in the end the GK and BR kill the renegades though some escape (So the BR can go heretic hunting, with the GK if you wanted them along) and the GK repay the Loyalists assistance with a few choice items from their armoury.
That's my take on an alternate idea...

Yes, sounds pretty good to me.

Honestly, it doesn't make a lot of sense in the established fluff. First of all, how did they find the Grey Knights in the first place? They are, after all, the most secretive chapter in existence, unknown even to the HLoT. So that fact alone makes much of this fluff not fit well. And as has been already mentioned, space marines are very proud individuals. They would likely have died making some last stand rather than survive with a fraction of marines. And if they did leave to rebuild, they'd likely do it on their own without the help of the Grey Knights.

Also, now this part is speculation, if they send recruits that can't cut it as Grey Knights, what's to assume the neophyte wouldn't have simply died/been posessed in the process? They go through 666 trials of detestation (Lexicanum, don't have the GK codex), which sound pretty nasty. I imagine if Neophyte Bob fails trial 427, he doesn't simply shrug it off and wander over to the Blood Ravens perfect as can be.

That and I can't help but remember the 'old' fluff (I'm a 5th ed player, but a good friend played old GKs and told me A LOT) where NO ONE knew when and where the Grey Knights would show up, and no one would witness their acts. Letting a random chapter tag along just doesn't seem to jive well.

Sorry, but using a chapter like the Grey Knights in a 'custom' chapter just doesn't fit well without breaking some really well established fluff. Granted Ward didn't do the new GK codex a favour fluff-wise, but even still.\

But that's just my opinion, your models and time, so do as you please.

On the Blood Ravens wiki page, it says that they are one of the few chapters allowed to know about them, perhaps because of the high number and power of psykers.


What I meant about Neophytes, is that GK have a level just above Librarian of others. So if they find a psychic individual, but he is not up to GK, they will be trained as Librarians for the BR.

They fled to the GK so that they could have a discrimination free safe zone. Any other place, and the Imperium might have attacked, then they might have turned to chaos, fighting back. By going to the GK, they went invisible, undetected.


And, I want to emphasize this, it is alternate fluff. I know the story of the Blood Ravens, but this is my, alternate dimension crap.

It just seems a bit out of character for them...
