I got some sealed boxes of metal GKs units that I'm gonna try to sell but I was wondering if those are still easy to sell since the release of the plastic GKs?
Are they usually selling for much less than the new plastic models? Or maybe for more because they are harder to get and some players prefer the metal models?

Thanks

I would think they would sell for less. The new GK kits are just so awesome.

I second that. The metals are probably much less desirable to most people, now that the new plastic kits are out. Most swap threads with people looking for GKs are asking for plastics, and most unloading GKs are trying to unload the metals.

Just like the above have said, probably less than the GK are now, which is much less than they were before.

Of course, check eBay.

I picked up 15 PAGK (metal) for $50 2nd hand still in box.
Less than a third of the price they were on release here.

You probably shouldn't expect more than about 50% of what you paid for them.

Certain people will prefer the metals.
A larger number will not and go for the plastics.

I'm one of those who prefer the metals. Toy soldiers just seem more 'real' in metal (and it's easier to justify the prices with mass).

The only metals I'd buy now are the metal Psycannon Terminators, and that's just to go with my 2 metal squads I already own. I like to keep the differing aesthetics of the two styles separate.

Incidentally, if someone has 2 of them they'd be willing to sell, they should PM me.

I would wait, maybe they'll become collectable in a few years time... right now their just old.

For collectors I'd assume the metal models are more valuable..

I agree chrome, I hate plastic and love to work with metal...I guess I am a odd ball eh?

They are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them. I would hold onto them for now and in the future I am shure people will want them just to be 'different'. Look at all the RT era stuff now comming back into vogue because of the HH books. I remember back in the day getting the RT era blisters super cheep at GW because they wanted to get rid of lead models and have pewter. Those where some good sales, I wish I kept them all now.... sighs....oh well. =o]

Yeah hold onto them. In a few years they might go up in price because of collectors.

They won't be valuable for a good few years. Currently they're simply inferior to the new kits. Eventually they'll become retro.

Only reason I'd buy them is for the Nemesis Weapon arms. GW doesn't seem to sell the bit anymore, and they make great relic weapons. The new kits are much more difficult for those purposes.

Considering the new hotness that is multipart plastic GK, I don't see them going up in value anytime soon.

SOMEONE thinks they're valuable, even if it's an IN Print model you can get everyday for $14.

Are the most recent GK metals a bit more valuable because people want the metal releases? Stuff like the new Draigo only had a short run in metal before the switch to finecost, all the other GK stuff had been in production for years.

I was wondering the same thing Treesong- I noticed on ebay metal yhetees going for a LOT... I guess some people prefer metal over finecast for models that were re-released with just the material (no sculpting) change. Also, since cost went up for the models when they were converted to finecast, the metals got more valuable, too...

I'm kind of split on this, I love the new plastic terminators hands down they look great. I like the gun arms of the metal power armor GK however better than the plastic ones, the ammo feed going to the backpack area looks a ton better than ammo clips sticking out the side of the guns personally.

That said however, I probably have more than enough PAGK for the time being, as I normally only equip my purifiers with halberds and I have a bunch of them.

I'm actually at the point where I'd rather pick up metals. It varies the poses on my army more, and I really do not need more falchions and interceptor backpacks cluttering up my bits containers. Of course, given what the old retail price was, here, the plastics are cheaper per model in any case.

Old metal grey knights are much more awesome than the new plastic ones. The new GK have a strange look to their helmet, psykic hoods on the terminators, and overall bulk of the armor. Both the old PAGK and especially the Terminators were much better. Plus, I like the feel of the metal models. Find someone who will appreciate the old models that much.

I have a bunch of them. I've done a few arms swaps to break up the static poses. Some that had swords now have halberds etc

my entire GK army is metal. I might pick up a couple of the new ones just to have, but I won't be changing the army out.

i'm also a fan of cheap, so if anyone has any metal ones they want to sell me cheap I am listening

The real problem with the old metals is that every model had a halberd, which isn't the optimum configuration.

I'm assuming you mean the Power Armor ones, as the Termies had both swords and Halberds(even the 2nd ed ones).

The metal justicars/brotherhood champions have swords--

They seem to still be available from GW.

Yeah but 3 squads of metal sword GKs = 30 monopose dudes. If you try to mix and match then the distinctly different storm bolter and smaller heads make them stick out.

This.

I have a bunch of metals. the only reason to get plastics is to have the options, like psilencer and the 2 sword option.
The plastic squad I have is waiting to be sculpted to have ammo feeds like the metals.
There is the webstore on the news page that sells some and I may get those instead of sculpting.
