Can't tell you. It's a secret...

Hello everybody, I am kinda new at this so please make sure to correct and excuse me to anything I do wrong
So the idea from what I have read and understood, in order to make a solid list, is to start with a good 1000pts and move on. In other words you need a strong core.

So here is what I have thought for my core of the Sons of Sanguinius.

Assault Squad(5x models, Sgt with Power Fist and 1 meltagun in Squad) 130 pts
Tactical Squad(10xmodels,1xmeltagun,Sgt with Powerfist and combi-melta) 210 pts
Rhino(standard version) 50 pts
Death Company(5xmodels,Jump Packs) 175 pts
Reclusiarch(Jump Pack) 155 pts
Sanguinary Priest(Power Weapon,Jump Pack) 90 pts
Vanguard Veteran Squad(5xmodels,Jump Packs,Sgt Power Fist) 175 pts

Total 985 pts

The concept is Death Company with Reclusiarch and the priest with either the Assault Squad or the Veterans.
Use the Tactical Squad with their Rhino as the cover moving up and follow along with the Vets and the Assault Squad. While Death Company does what it does best...sow terror

In advance thank you for the help and the time spending reading my list.

Well, the main issue is that your list is very scattered, which is a very common mistake for new players. You lack focus, mobility and durability, but fortunately that is relatively easily fixed. Here are a few things that seem off to me.

-The Assault Squad is too small. If it's going to be run as a melee unit with Jump Packs it needs to be 10 models or it will be overwhelmed by almost any half decent unit it tries to assault.
-The Tactical Squad doesn't have much of a place in this list. It's outclassed by an Assault Squad in Jump Packs with a Sanguinary Priest, or a pair of Assault Squads in Razorbacks.
-The Death Company is WAAAAYYYYY too expensive. They are perfectly acceptable as a melee hammer unit if you field them without Jump Packs in a Land Raider or something, but in Jump Packs with no weapon upgrades they are almost no better than a standard Assault Squad.
-The Vanguard Vets are OK, but they need to be fielded in the right way. In a DOA list (a list that fields nothing but jump pack troops making use of Descent of Angels to get what they need when they need it, with minimal scatter) they can be quite useful, but in any other list they just don't pack enough punch.
-Your Reclusiarch is decent for leading the Death Comapny but definitely too expensive at 1,000 points. In a Land Raider with 9 Death Company he can really bring the pain, but in a jump pack he is not worth the cost due to the small squad size and vulnerability to anti-infantry weapons.
-The whole list needs to be more streamlined. You have only a single vehicle, which will get singled out early and destroyed by any list with ranged firepower, and most of your units are 5 strong which means they will be eaten alive at range before they get in combat. You also only have one Meltagun, and no other means of dealing with AV14 which leaves you vulnerable to Land Raiders.

If you want a solid core to start from, you should really determine what kind of list you want to play. Do you want A) A list full of models with Jump Packs, or B) a list full of vehicles. Mixing the two is not advisable in this edition of the game, so I highly recommend picking one of the two and sticking with it, then expanding later (which I'll talk about in a minute).

If you want a Jumpers list, then you should consider something like this as a core:

Librarian (Jump Pack, Unleash Rage, Shield of Sanguinius) - 125
Sanguinary Priest (Jump Pack) - 75
10 Assault Marines (Sgt w/ Power Fist, 2x Meltagun) - 235
10 Assault Marines (Sgt w/ Power Fist, 2x Meltagun) - 235
Total 670

From there you have a few options. You could add an Honor Guard with Meltaguns and possibly a banner, or some Vanguard Vets and another Sanguinary Priest. You could even add another Assault Squad and a Sanguinary Priest if you want. This list can either start on the table and rush your opponent, or arrive via Deep Strike using Descent of Angels to stack the cards in your favor. At higher point levels you usually run 3x Assault Squads, 2x Librarians, 2x Honor Guards and some Vanguard Vets, so any combination of that at 1k works relatively well. This style list works because you deny your opponent targets to fire their anti-tank weapons at, meaning they have to resort to firing Missiles and Lascannons at infantry.

If you want a list full of tanks, you should consider this as a core:

Librarian (Shield of Sanguinius, Blood Lance) - 100
5 Assault Marines (No Jump Packs, Meltagun, Razorback w/ Lascannon & TL Plasma Gun) - 165
5 Assault Marines (No Jump Packs, Razorback w/ Lascannon & TL Plasma Gun) - 155
5 Assault Marines (No Jump Packs, Razorback w/ Lascannon & TL Plasma Gun) - 155
Baal Predator (Assault Cannon, Sponsion Heavy Bolters) - 145
Baal Predator (Assault Cannon, Sponsion Heavy Bolters) - 145
Predator (Autocannon, Sponsion Lascannons) - 135
Total 1,000

This list is intended to use speed and firepower to suppress and disable your opponent while you drive circles around them. The Baal Predators can use their scout move to get into position and pop smoke, which will remain in effect even if you go first, giving you a nice advantage. Everything can move 6" and fire every weapon or 12" and fire a single weapon, meaning your Razorbacks become high speed fire support carrying scoring units to objectives. At higher points, you basically add more of what you already have. More Predators and more Assault Squads in Razorbacks. At some point you can start adding Sanguinary Priests and a few melee upgrades on some of your Assault Squads, giving you some melee potential in addition to your ranged support. This style list works because it denies your opponent targets to fire their anti-infantry weapons at until they open up your vheicles.

Now, you can reasonably build both lists by magnetizing the Jump Packs on the Assault Marines, then buying enough vehicles to run the second list. The first list is going to be slightly less expensive once you flesh everything out, but I think the second list is a little stronger. It's your decision which to play, and there are certainly many ways to design either list within the format, giving you some variety and options, but I would highly recommend sticking with one or the other. In my experience, mixing Mech and Jumpers leads to bad matchups because you don't have the ability to deny your opponent a target to shoot at.

Anyway, I hope that helps!

Can't tell you. It's a secret...

First of all wow! thank you very much for the time you took to check the list and, and the time you spent explaining a couple of important things so I can get how to make something more effective and more up to my style The reason I choose BA's is due to the mobility of the army (ofc story and the fact we are talking about SM's is enough ) so I think I am going to follow your advice and make a more jump-troop oriented list. Will post an update once I get home from work.

Again I appreciate the help!!!

Aldarionn gives the standard formats though they should be tailored to your style of play if you choose these two directions.

My advice is just play. At 1000 pt battle the list should be all right.

The death company need to be more killy: what happens if the most forward unit is assault termies or an Iron clad?
I would take some meltabombs for the vanguard and usually should have better weapons(as you can).

In full a army the death company and vanguard squads should be special treats. Tactical squads should be an afterthought used to fill gaps in lists, id est roles that you lack for example a bona fide objective sitter.

Can't tell you. It's a secret...

First of all thank you both for the insight. So I came up with the following to be more fun for me to play with

3xAssault Squads (2 meltas, Sgt PF) 235x3 points
Librarian (JP,Unleash Rage, Shield of Sanguinius) 125 points
2xSanguinary Priest (JP's, 1 with a PW and meltabombs) 75 points & 95 points

Total Cost : 1000 points

Again I appreciate the help

Of course you should always tailor the "standard" formats to fit your individual style of play. That said there is more leeway with jumper lists than with mech lists, hence why I posted a sub 1k core for Jumpers and a full list for Mech.

If you are looking for a jumper style, as I said you are primarily going to use 2-4 units of Assault Marines, 1-2 Librarians, some Honor Guard, and possibly Vanguard Vets, with Sanguinary Priests to taste. From there it's just a matter of balancing the list and equipping the models. Wargear selections will vary from person to person, but you really just want to ensure you have a means of cracking open vehicles and then dealing with tough troops.

That said, avoid Death Company in jumper lists at all costs. As I mentioned, they are FAR too expensive for what they bring to the list, and their relative durability compared to standard Assault Marines.....plus they cannot hold objectives.

As another new player, thanks for this post, it's really great!

One question though: why the 10man assault squads? I haven't played the 1000 point game, but won't having that few squads really jeopardize the game? If one of them gets pinned down, that's a pretty significant part of your army out of action. Also thinking about getting shot by tanks etc.

10 man Assault Squads with an attached Sanguinary Priest and Librarian can be brutal in combat. They are extremely durable against anything that's not instant death or AP2, and they can spread out well enough to avoid incoming ordnance fire. They will generally wipe out a target rather than getting bogged down, and the things that can bog them down (dreadnoughts and the like) tend to be much slower than them and easy to dodge. With Furious Charge, Feel No Pain and Unleashed Rage (preferred enemy) they will be attacking at initiative 5 and strength 5 with a reroll to hit, throwing 25 attacks, plus 3 Power Fist attacks and the Power Weapons from the Librarian and possibly the Priest. Incoming attacks that aren't Power Weapons will only be half as effective as normal, so they can survive anything that lives through their attacks as long as they aren't wielding a pile of Power Weapons.

I think you generally underestimate the power of the Assault Squad in a Blood Angels list. They are damned effective and very durable. Test them out sometime and you will see what I mean

Another thing about 10 man units combat squads. I love vanguard vets and honour guard in my Doa lists. plasma gun or melta lay outs are great for honour guard. Vanguard vets need a pf in each unit and with no other special weps take metla bombs if your adding in another fist and sword no bombs.

Good...Bad... Im the guy with the, GUN!

Nono, I'm all out Assault Squads, I've just been playing them 5 man. Will try a 10 man squad. Thanks for all the great advice!

Does this mean that you can attach 2 independent characters in one squad? (Just making sure )If it does then I will surly try this one out asap!!!

Thank you for the great advice!

Yeah you can put multiple characters in one squad

You can actually attach Independent Characters to Independent Characters, and in any number you want, so theoretically you could take 9 Sanguinary Priests as your 3 Elites choices, and 2 Librarians, then attach them all as a massive unit full of 11 Independent Characters, which would drive your opponent insane for wound allocation but it would be hilarious at the very least
