I'm playing in a GT in a few weeks and I'd like to add "something" to my infantry bases to set them apart and I am just not sure what to do.
Any suggestions? I've got about 50 I'd like to spruce up.

I actually quite like your bases. There's more going on than just sand or just flock.
One thing is the rim of the base. It looks like you could use another coat around the edge, I can see some of the base paint showing through on the three guys in your pic.

Agreed. Skulls, little bits of scenery, just small things that add character

Thanks for the advice, on closer inspection almost all of them needed a second coat to cover up highlighting the sand. I just finished a second coat, they look much better, thanks for the advice!

Your bases are actually very nice. That second coat (that you seem to have already put in place) is probably all you'll need. Spent shell casings on heavy weapons teams, skulls here and there, knives stuck in the ground and helmets of Guardsmen, Marines, Eldar, whatever, will look good if you're conservative with them.

i would go water, mud, some old scraps of metal. Or different, dust, skuls, rusted metal.
Hope that helped

I would do something a little less war torn since all of your guys are so pretty and clean like. I would add more natural elements like tall grass, twigs and scattered leaves. Look up more fantasy bases and you will see what I mean.

I picked up a fantasy basing kit last night and I'm going to add some leaves and a few of the smaller rocks to the bases, maybe every three or so. Thanks for the suggestion. Skulls might be a bit out of place.
