Hey everyone! This is my first serious conversion that I've done, or at least the first conversion I've made that I thought turned out any good. I have some of the old GK models and was thinking about building up a GK army (I've got about 1000 points of just standard GK and a few Terminators but no vehicles or dreadnoughts). I would like for this model to lead the army but I'm not sure what I could use him as. He is modeled with a huge sword and a bolt pistol. Should I skip GK entirely and just have him lead a SM chapter? Anyway, I'd like your thoughts as well as comments on the model and paintjob itself. I know it's nothing compared to many here, but tips are appreciated!

Probably work

The sword is a bit... disproportionate, even by 'heroic' standards. I think it's the enourmous hilt and the fact that the grip is almost as long as the actual blade is. Other than that, he looks pretty cool, but not very Inquisition-ish . What's the power armor from?

Interesting sword. The picture is pretty dark but it looks as if you could go over the white another time and add highlights around the edges of the other colors to create some depth. Good start keep it up

I gave him the huge weapon as it was intended to be used as either a relic blade, daemonblade or some other massive two-handed sword. I used the huge hilt because I wanted it to obviously have to be wielded in 2 hands as well as to make it that much different from most other weapons.

He's put together with the following bits:
Blood Angels Head
Scibor chest and shoulders (Templar style)
Warrior of Chaos legs (Warhammer Fantasy)
Space Wolves Frost Axe arms
Frost Axe Blade x2
Frost axe hilt
Dark Angel sword blade
Purity Seals
Bolt Pistol
Green Stuff Loincloth and Cape
Scibor Base

Scale wise he stands much taller than any human normally would and is even a little bigger than most Marines, but it is likely because he isn't really using too many bits from normal SM. The Chaos warrior legs are taller as well as the Scibor torso, making him stand very tall. The more I think about it, the less likely I'll use him as an inquisitor.

Ah, that explains the torso then. I think he'd make a good chapter master.

The hilt is itself part of the weapon. Think of it as a Greataxe/sword combination. I don't want to leave the blade (either the sword or the axe blades) silver but I haven't decided what method to try for making it look like a power weapon. some of the styles out there are awesome, but I don't yet have the talent to reproduce them. I'll probably just practice on some other models first.
