Adding wargear to a unit or a vehicle makes it an obstruction. Things like dozer blades, deffrollers, and any other wargear that protrudes for the model.

My three questions are as follows:

Can you attempt to move a model were wargear is, under the wobbly model syndrome rule, or something?

Also would you accept the following as a deffroller: Two 8ish inch sprue strait pieces with a standard empty beer can on the end.

When ramming, do you determine from hull or wargear to find if the vehicle has made contact, and if you measure from the wargear is it only when considered part of the hull, or is it always?

Edit: Still looking for what to do when a decorative element is in the way of unit movement.

Per the BGB, pg 56:
for distances involving a vehicle, measure to or from their hull (ignoring gun barrels, dozer blades, antennas, banners and other decorative elements).

therefore, ramming would be measured from the hull.

As for the deffrolla question, it would be up to your opponent. if it looked really cool, i'd allow it.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

NOVA's position is the best for deffrollas... Ignore it for all game purposes, remove it if possible.

All other upgrades you ignore but should be small enough not to drastically impact gameplay.

Id have to agree with that. Best solution.

If you painted it up and added some spike bits it would probably be okay. A regular unpainted/unmodified beer can attached to your model though. . .Id let it slide in a friendly game but you would get a frowny face.

unmodified I'd agree with (cause it'd be too big) but unpainted? I'd frown if he painted it. I just love the idea of a big beer can rolling over my nids.

Like I tell my friend's when they ask something is an acceptable conversion or not: As long as you paid the points and it looks like what it's supposed to be it's good.

Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

For the life of me I have never understood this obsession with what is or is not the vehicle (specifically in the case of the deffrolla).

I say: if you deploy it behind the deployment line - it is all 'vehicle'. It should be able to tankshock, ram, be deployed over (if open topped), shot from, draw line of sight to, assaulted, targeted as hull etc. etc. etc. I don't want to start a long debate -- just sayin' -- jeez. I have several of them, and it's not an aerial, or a flag, or a thin dozer blade, or a rolled up sleeping bag - its a huge piece of equipment, and I think it is silly to take it off to play (or act like it is not there). That's how I play it, and no problems here.

As far as a beercan?? well - since Orks 'can' kitbash I think we have a responsibility to make it look good if we are going to do it. Maybe he can spraypaint it red or glue nickles to it or something... It WILL present an enormous target, and since it makes the Battlewagon longer, it presents you with more side shots.

So there isn't anything official regarding decorative elements and movement then, hmm.

Thanks everyone, and for reference it's not my model.
