I've been playing around with the idea of an all reserve tyranid list and this is what I came up with:
HQ:
Hive Tyrant - 2x TL Devourers w/BLW, Wings, Hive Commander, Leech Essence, Paroxysm
Elites:
8x Ymgarl Genestealers
2x Zoanthropes - mycetic spore
3x Lictors
Troops:
3 x 10 Genestealers - TS
Total: 1334
This gives me 166 points to work with. I was thinking of doing a few things:
1. Adding another Zoanthrope plus maybe some Hormogaunts/beefing up my Genestealer sqauds
2. Adding 16 Hormogaunts with AG and TS
3. Beefing up my Ymgarls and Genestealer squads
4. Adding another unit of Genestealers
The theme I was going for is getting to your opponent quickly by just appearing right beside them or from the table edges in the case of the Genestealers. I've had problems with my bugs getting gunned down before they can do any real damage and I feel like this might be a decent way to solve that problem. All c&c are much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

mkay, this is what the list would look like with the gaunts:
HQ:
Hive Tyrant - 2x TL Devourers w/BLW, Wings, Hive Commander, Leech Essence, Paroxysm
Elites:
8x Ymgarl Genestealers
2x Zoanthropes - mycetic spore
3x Lictors
Troops:
3 x 10 Genestealers - TS
16x Hormogaunts - TS and AG
Total: 1494
The gaunts would be outflanking. Any opinions on the other options or do you guys think this is the best option?

Idk about AG and TS, I would go just with TS, the AG takes up way too many points, with those points you save you can pick up another 2 stealers.

If I drop the AG I could add 4 more gants with TS, too, or I could take your suggestion and add a genestealer to 2 of the squads. Which do you guys think would be better?

based on the list I'd had 4 more hormogaunts, that should give more bang for your buck that an extra stealers to 2 of the squads ..

Alright. The finished product would look like this:
HQ:
Hive Tyrant - 2x TL Devourers w/BLW, Wings, Hive Commander, Leech Essence, Paroxysm
Elites:
8x Ymgarl Genestealers
2x Zoanthropes - mycetic spore
3x Lictors
Troops:
3 x 10 Genestealers - TS
20x Hormogaunts - TS
Total: 1494
Think this list would be a decent all-comers?

aren't raveners better choice than lictors ? they're cheaper and have more attacks so 3xlictors (9 attacks) = 6xraveners (24 attacks). Even if they are S4 that's quite a lot more. Or just 5 with rendng claws (20 A).
I prefer raveners because lictors have the same life expectancy against S8 weapons but are so more expensive.

That's true. I hadn't even considered Raveners, I forgot they could DS. I guess I was also thinking about light-armor when I picked lictors. They're higher str means they have a better chance of breaking through armor, plus they have the rending AND scything talons. Granted I only re-roll 1s, but I don't get any re-rolls with the Raveners. I also picked lictors because of their pheromone trail. That way I get the +1 to reserve rolls once they come in, so if they come in turn 2, I'm guaranteed everything's in by turn 3.
I do think Raveners would be better against infantry. The volume of attacks would certainly be more overwhelming than the lictors, but I was also thinking about the flesh hooks the lictors can shoot. Granted, it might only be like, 1 or 2 more wounds, but they're still a factor. I'll have to playtest both and see which works. I've never actually tried either, hahaha.

If you're in Reserve, Hive Commander and Pheromone Trail are a bit wasted as their main use is causing 3+ reserves on turn 2; you won't get the bonus until turn 3 at the earliest, at which point the return is fairly modest. A Trygon might yield better results than the Lictors, 2 Zoanthropes are not the most reliable AV14 hunters in a metagame full of anti-psyker.

Hive Commander works from reserve, but Pheromone Trail doesn't.
Drop the Lictors, add more genestealers or a Trygon
