Warhammer and Heavy Metal have always gone together, since the earliest days of the hobby. Chaos Warriors are probably the most metal thing in existence, hell even High Elves are pretty metal with their dragons and cursed bloodlines of god rage.
I personally can't even consider painting unless I have some Ensiferum or Luca Turilli playing, so my question(s) to Dakka:
What is the most Metal thing in your Warhammer collection?
Have any songs ever inspired you to want to make/convert/paint/collect something?
Does anyone even get what in the name of the 4 powers i'm babbling about?
Personally i craft everything while listening to the stylings of Justin Bieber and Hanson for a little old school flavor. Nothing imprints the hate and rage required for the following carnage like that does.
I like to think of it like The Grudge for TT gaming.
I have a fantasy orc army i've never gotten around to painting any of. I think i might paint them all with black metal style corpse paint.... while listening to Carpathian Forest, of course.
When Im painting Marauders( have like 120 to go) I lisen to Immortal. Its only when abbat flows from my speakers that I can stomach to paint marauders.
When Im painting my bloodpact I break out Satyricon, Enslaved and Gorgoroth. And as for gaming.... THEN its Sabbaton time
I rarely play a game of 40k without bolt thrower cranking.
I dont tend to paint with music on as I find it distracting, although the HPA I sculpted/kitbashed before the model came out was very much inspired by cannibal corpse. Check my gallery for pics. (mine is the taller one with too many teeth.
One exception to the no music while painting thing is that Nile makes my khemri painting 100x better.

Btw, digging the love for BM in this thread.
Well i checked out the HPA, and that thing is grotesquely awesome. the word Corpsegrinder springs to mind....
Definitely smacks of album art work potential
I've been working on a chaos dragon and have had been playing Black dragon by Luca Turrili, a lot. Kinda what inspired this whole thread too
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, a lot of Einherjer while painting Marauders xD

Blind Guardian's Nightfall in Middle Earth for playing. Pure awesomeness.
When painting I usually have my computer play from a vast archive on shuffle I don't mind too much as long as it is metal!
You can just see the great hosts marching south, banners flailing in the cold air as flecks of snow fall lightly upon their iron shoulders. Great machines of war lurch behind them and the skies fill with winged horrors as the clouds twist in response to prayers of blood made by damned souls to unspeakable gods.
I just started painting my warriors of chaos army (working on my first model), however my CSM army, which is around 90% painted was all done while listening to death metal mostly, nothing beats painting your chaos lord while carcass - Black Star is on the background, and of course for my 20 zerks debauchery
