Something that I would like to have been part of was the whole the Eye of Terror episode. The idea of a worldwide tournament (?) that actually wrote part of the game background seems an inspired idea. I'd love to see something similar happen again. Does anyone else feel the same? What sort of sceario would you like it based on?

I'd quite like to see it based on a Scism within the AdMech, with Dark Mechanus/Void Dragon cult/Necrons on one side and IoM/Admech on the other. Good excuse to promote Epic, introduce AdMech as a playable army, AND a decent outing for Necrons...

While it was a great thing, and I'd love to see it again, I'd only play it if it meant a Chaos Legions codex was released. Let's face it, if Eye of terror happened right now Chaos would get crushed mercilessly.

But really if they were to do this it would most likely be post 6th ed. and focus on armies that received more recent codexes. Personally I'd like to see a new BT crusade into Tau space. (when both get new 'dex ) .

Did you play Medusa V? It was a major clusterfeth... wouldn't recommend it occurring. If you want to play a campaign, set one up with your local gaming group, you can do all sorts of cool things with it, and you don't have to worry about blatant cheating on an international scale.

I hope you realize that the Dark Mechanicus and a Void Dragon Cult/Necrons are pretty much mortal enemies.

Admech is the dream that never will be. If there's another global campaign like Eye of Terror it would have to be after an update to Chaos or after a book like C: Armageddon with some lists to test out in said campaign, like I guess ad mech, chaos legions, renegades and or some possible new twist on a
Xenos.
There's no real reason why GW wont do another global campaign, it's always worked well for them.

For now, yeah. But, remember, Matt Ward has the new 'Cron 'Dex. So, expect horrible fluff.

Now we know what the Overmind is.

Quoted from "The Defenestrator":
"Yes, I don't buy into the goody goody image the Tau PR machine has churned out . They're all dirty cold-blooded space-communists if you ask me! Besides, their shiny, selfless "we love everyone for the Greater Good" vibe is so unfitting for the "lulz we're all badass jerks" future of 40k. GW needs to play up their cold, calculating, "join us or die, and probably still die anyway" Borg-y style. That's just me of course."

Made balanced books with multiple lists and fluff that's on par with the majority of codices published in this past edition?

How is the Internet related to mortar and brick stores reporting the results of in store games?
Or are you referring to the lists they play.

Brick and mortar shops weren't the only way to report games.

Anyone and everyone could report the outcomes of their games--even if they never actually played a game.

This, but he does have a few fluff nuggets that make me balk.

I think another Eye of Terror campaign would be great, especially if it came with an accompanying codex to push it like the old Eye of Terror book. Just call it Black Crusade and have at. What I'd give for 90's GW!

So that GW can Retcon everything that actually happened in a campaign like they did in Eye of Terror?

I do not think so.

A new Eye of Terror campaign would require;

1: New Codex for Lost and Dammed Army list/Scenario rules/ specialist army lists

2: Only GW shops could report battle details to stop cheating

3: New models for characters

4: Codex: Chaos Legions

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

blood reaper wrote:A new Eye of Terror campaign would require;

It would require none of those.
The Lost and the Damned currently have 4 army lists(One in each of the Vraks books, and then the fourth in the Badab War) courtesy of Forge World. One of them is even available as a free download.
There were no "scenario rules" for EoT until afterwards, when GW published a huge campaign thing for you to refight it yourselves.
The Specialist army lists can be represented quite well by the standard Codices these days.

2: Only GW shops could report battle details to stop cheating

And you effectively cut out a large amount of the US from participating.

Good job!

3: New models for characters

...Why?
The models for the characters introduced through EoT have held up just fine.

4: Codex: Chaos Legions

Eh. Rumors are this is coming anyways, so that's probably coming true.

Hell yeah! That'll be totally awesome!
It'll be like the HH, but with robots.

Problem is though that'll be a bit one sided due to the amount of Spesse Mahrines out there.

If GW made it so only GW stores and Rogue Traders (indie stores) could report that'd be great. I guess theoretically the club scene would be excluded, but having people who sell the product push the campaign would be ideal.

It was great fun when it happened, I only played a few games but to think that your little battles were part of something bigger was a great concept.

But you know what's funny? I distinctly remember someone from GW (Jervis?) saying at the time that the outcome of the campaign would influence the fluff and, potentially, influence the codices of those involved.

A few years later, the current CSM codex was released. So much for that.

That still wouldn't prevent cheating:

1. You're assuming every single store employee has scruples. It'd be very easy to "misplace" some results that favor the other side when it comes time to report them. "What would be the point in a store employee cheating the results?" I hear you say, and the same could be said for individual people cheating in online reporting: they care too much about who gains from the results.

2. That would also require GW store employees to witness/verify the results of every single game in the store. With places like the LA Bunker, that would be impossible, it's too big for the amount of employees they have. It's still down to the players being truthful and any really organized cheating would ruin that system fast.

Also, as pointed out, you're cutting out a large portion of people, as not everyone plays in a store, much less a GW store.
