Okay so I was talking with friends today and the thought came up; using Tryanids as Daemons. The Hive Tyrant could be a greater daemon with the many arms gifts. Warriors as heralds gaunts and genestealers as various lesser daemons. Now when I proposed that to a friend he shook his head in shame. Then I asked what if I put them all on square bases...

I thought of using tyranids in fantasy before, and actually had purchased some intending to do it... but the conversion requirement would be enormous. I had planned for lizardmen, I think it's a better fit.

It's as funny as Space Marines counting as Bretonnian Knights. Not my cup of tea.

The further I would take it is buying a big pack of extra Tyranid limbs, and sticking them on stuff.

But the great thing about Tyranids is, they could use entirely the same fluff. It would be hard to represent Space Marines as knights riding horses that utterly refuse to use their bolters and for some reason are vulnerable to bows and arrows even though they wear some of the hardest armor in exsistence (not to mention they're human who've inexplicably gained a huge leap in technological advancements).

Tyranids could use their current same fluff and beasts that have come down from space to consume the Warhammer world. Nothing overtly screams sci fi (well... unless legions of bugs count as sci fi).

I wouldnt mind having a ton of extra limbs for nids that would be sweet to put on stuff possibly but they dont really fit in without as said above as well major conversions.

Still they have cool models and their bits are great.

But this all said there is no real bug raze in fantasy like I mean exoskeleton and all that fun stuff. I think it wouldnt make a bad addition I dont know what they would be at and how they would look but im sure someone can sculpt some sick models.

I could see it any wouldn't mind playing it, but a tyranid gaunt is longer than a 25mm square base. How would you get them to rank up?
