1998

All objectives are deployed centrally into a cluster f#ck.

He wins the roll off and gives me first turn. I deploy at the top in standard parking lot formation, protecting the Exorcists (which I know are about the only thing that are going to give me a shot at winning this game) and the Dominions up front to get some scouting melta goodness. He places his servo skull in such a way that stops me from going straight up the middle. He reserves everything. This catches me by surprise, but I suppose it made sense. He doesn't want my magic missiles taking down his storm chicken and what not.

The first two turns see me moving up and positioning my self in easy grab or on top of 3 objectives with the ability to contest the other two with a 12" move. Formation is still rather boxy, I run over his servo skull for good measure. His entire army walks on turn 2.

His shooting phase is meh. He stuns a couple things, blows a gun off of a immolater and immobilizes something. Not too terrible. His storm chicken is right in my grill. Draigo's unit is walking up the middle. The 5 man is going up the flank.

My shooting phase see's the chicken absorbing 8 melta shots with shrouding and all out save. I blow up both dreds and kill a dude in Draigos unit.

His dudes hop out of the chicken and it flys away. The rest walk up. Shooting sees a few things take damage. Theres a nasty multi charge and some stuff blows up and a unit of sisters runs away.

I regroup the sisters unit, even though it only has 2 members after one dies from dangerous terrain, I had the faith points to waste and it could annoy him later on. Lots of shooting and moving. I blow up the storm chicken, kill some paladins. His saves are rediculous. I don't think he failed more than 3, 2+, saves the entire game. . .and thats with squads of sisters multi-bolting the snizzle out of 1 unit at a time. Celestine charges and. . . dies.

He keeps moving in on me multicharging rhinos that I sent to block his path and hopefully slow him down. He does some shooting, at rhinos mostly. Nothing big, more charging.

Celestine gets back up. More sacrifice, and shimming about. I wipe out a unit of paladins with massed combined fire, but mostly due to Exorcists. Celestine charges and. . . .dies.

More of the same for him.

Celestine gets back up. Massed combined fire into the next unit of Paladins near my two primary objectives, soaking it all except for the Exorcist missiles. I wipe them out. Celestine frowns, she was excited die once again.

He shoots. . .multicharges. . .his libby finally kills the last dominion, consolidates near enough to an objective to contest it, and the game ends at the bottom of the 6th.

Sisterz 1
GK 0

Things I will do differently: I'm going to use combi-meltas or plasma. . .haven't decided yet. And, I will circle his forces to avoiding multi-charges as much.

It was a good game though.

The new codex is complete and total sh!t. No way around it. You can honestly disregard 70% of the book. Most units are poorly thought out, have limited options of usefulness, and are too expensive for what they offer. I'm looking at you penitent engine! There's 1 troop choice, and it has a minimum squad size of 10! You can't even put a basic sister unit into an immolater! WTF! Despite what other people have said about the new faith system, I find it works rather well for units that have functional powers, like your normal battle sisters and dominions. The normal sisters have just about the best regrouping ability in the game now. Because it's done at the start of the turn before they fall back and it ignores all restrictions to regrouping. Exorcists are beyond awesome, still, and dominions scouting melta of doom tactic is functional and nasty.

lol, indeed. I'm sure I'm not the only person with sister rage right now. Cruddace bent it over a table and. . .uhhhh. . .well. . .gave it a enema with a flame thrower. It's actually a worse codex than Tyranids, another one he unfortunately created.

Breathe deep, it's only a WD Codex. Which means it's only out to be playtested while they tweak it to make it into an actual book. There's still hope!

Well, it's a terrible codex because there are barely any options in it and only, maybe, 3 functional builds. And, thats being tremendously kind. Because all the objectives were so close he could spread any one unit out enough to cap two of them. It was really close. He made a few mistakes in his movement. I capatilized on it. In the future, against this type of list, I plan on spreading the objectives a bit more and making him run them.

Not to invalidate your win because it was a good win, but that last turn I don't know what I was thinking but I realized right after I moved..I had meant to break Draigo off to throw into your immobilized rhino contesting....while the others shot the other rhino...we rolled the dice anyway to see the outcome...(didn't see you mention that part as the reason you took the win...you mentioned I made a movement error that you capitalized on..but the error was done on my bottom turn on which the game ended...so don't really know what you did to capitalize on it : p)

well...I would have won (the paladins blew up the contesting rhino and draigo would have blown up the immobilized one)...plus I just barely missed that objective by literally a millimeter...oh well...lesson learned....just wanted to make sure it was clear I mostly beat myself....the sisters codex is far too weak now.....but congrats to grim for playing a flawless game with what I think is a very weak codex...Me on the other hand...I got a lot to learn.

Damn phone....so many typos lol

I see, you're trying to take my victory away how ungracious, sir. It will certainly be a different set up next we play. I think we both learned something about our armies. I know I took several things away from that game that will help me in future engagements. Well played, sir. You may not be able to hear me, but there's much evil laughter.

Not sure about hope, I played them at a Tourney. I Massacred my first two opponents, but I just did not have the tools needed to deal with the next two GK armies I faced. Felt outmatched from Turn 1.

No one does. I go into rages when I talk about my hatred for the gk codex, so I'll keep it short and say the entire codex as a burning pile of horse sh@t and it shouldn't exist. What bothers me more is the attitude that gk players get when you play them. It's like they expect/know they're going to win and there's always this snide attitude about it.

Sounds a lot like some DE players I know...

If only we could harness all this rage....such power!

Look, I am a bit disappointed with the GK codex myself, being a fledgling GK player. However, I do enjoy the Pure GK side of it...more specifically the super-elite, low model count/anti-spam side of it. But I'm not sure I feel that kind of hatred for...well anything

For all the griping about the assault units in the codex, I've been ripping it up with a 2000 point force of 6 penitent engines, 2 repentia units and priest in rhinos, and a confessor bomb. Throw in two scouting immolators and three sisters units and they have no idea what to shoot first. I've beat most folks I've taken on. Although a leafblower did blow away my repentia before I could get them in their transport once... Very annoying.

Besides the fact that Pentinent engines have crappy armour and the army lacks open topped/assault vehicles both those units have rage, any competent player will have them running after some inconsequential unit the entire game.

I don't know what you're playing against, but the units are crap. Plain and simple. I suppose I could take half a dozen penitent engines and surprise a noob but, even then, it's unlikely. They're av10 open topped walkers with rage. Terrible. Just terrible. I'm certain that 1 psyfledred could wipe out three full units of penitent engines before they ever saw combat. Why would I ever wast points on those?

No, a UNIT of repentia or penitent engines is crap. They'll get shot to pieces or led around by the nose and never get anything done. In numbers, they are a good build, if not an auto win. In Kill Point missions half of them get killed or run off the wrong way, but I've never failed to make up all the points with the one's who make it into combat. Unless you are playing Speed Freaks, jetbike eldar or the like there's no way to lead 3 well placed rage units around by the nose, and repentia don't rage until you drop them off. It's even better in objective missions - I can still count on a few of them making it into combat, and I've never once had my troop units taking fire before turn 3. And that's a bad game. You can either spend all your shooting on those units (and they don't die THAT fast) or you can have them plow into your lines and start bouncing around. All the action is on the opponents board edge and middle - I can always count on at least two of my objectives going uncontested pretty much the entire game. Confessors push the opponent off another, since they have generally escaped a lot of shooting that would have otherwise worn them down.

6 penitent engines, two repentia in transports, two immolators, one confessor bomb. That's a lot of shooting not being aimed at my troop units. That's a lot of assault units hanging back for counter charges. That's a lot of room to breathe. I have yet to take on grey knights, but I've played against plenty of good shooting and at least a third have made it into combat every time. That's enough.

Plus, it's fun as hell to play.

How are 6 Penitent Engines an autowin? I would love to be able to blow away 240 points of models with one Exorcist Salvo...

They are not even close to an autowin - but I have been WINNING. Very different. So far no one has managed to wipe out all the penitents in under four rounds, much less one. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but I'm not planning on beating every list.

Doesn't look like vassal is updated for Sisters... In fact, the copy I have doesn't look like it is fully updated for eldar either. Either that or it is being massively buggy.
