In the timeline of the WHFB rulebook, there was an event where a Dark Elf Corsair vessel is assaulted by "needle fanged warriors from the depths" and the entire crew are killed. This sounds like it has awesome potential. Anyone have anyomore info on this event or what race they might be?

Sounds like Sahuagin, an aquatic race from D&D. Their potential to fight on land in great numbers seems limited.

Yea I played the Baldur's Gate series so I am familiar with them. That would be cool. Or maybe like Naga from warcraft.

It could be any kind of fangy-sea beasts. I see them as the Krait from Guild Wars. Which would make an awesome army.

There was a race of fishmen mentioned in old warhammer fluff. They might have even had some models from waaaaaay long ago.
They just didn't get fleshed out.

Wasn't there some big debate over a picture of a weird fish/daemon type dude emerging from some swamps, back when the latest edition of WHFB came out? Everyone seemed to think that it meant a new race was being added.

It's Fishmen, shame GW will never make models of them, though if your looking Troll Forged Miniatures has some beautiful ones
They do seem to be one of the next logical choices for a new army (Logically Fishmen, Chaos Dwarfs and Araby seem like the top three), I'm a little sad none were made/used in Dreadfleet

Or Sartosa. Dreadfleet has given me fresh hope for this.
(oh, and fishmen could easily fit into a pirate list)

I have pondered this before.
There was also a reference to the mystery needle fanged race in the previous Dark Elf army book (attacking Corsair ships as they sailed under the mountains to raid Cathay).
Note there is a special rule for Sea Creatures in 8th Edition which no existing unit currently benefits from.

Indeed, no Sea Creatures exist yet. Not even in Storm of Magic IIRC.
Maybe we will get Sartosa or the Tilean states.
