Hello Dakka. What is your opinion of Games Workshop discounting, and not producing the Witch Hunters anymore? I am sad myself, because I have battled Witch Hunter players before, and had a good time. So, what is your opinion?

Enh, I'm not sad to see the Inquisition go, but that's my own bias because I never liked the idea of an Inquistion. Torturing innocents to purge the guilty - and purging plenty of innocents in the process - never sat well with me. Personal preference.

I am sad for the people who loved playing Sisters alongside allies and/or the Inquisition. I like having more options, not fewer, to choose from. Even if I'd never choose that option myself - though I'll admit I'd've loved to field Sisters and IG together again - Inquisition with Sisters seemed to be enjoyable to play for a lot of people. I guess since I play at home, "the most important rule" can give me that, even if it'd never happen against random opponents.

I guess as a near-pure-Sisters player - when I play with my Sisters - I'm nearly unaffected by the change. One nice thing is that I get to use my Hospitaller models without an Inquisitor should I choose to do so. ^_^ I also get to field some Death-Cult Assassins. Pretty ladies in tight leather? Right up there with pretty ladies in form-fitting power armor... Mrrrrr... I guess I could've fielded the DCAs in the old dex, but I always glossed over the Assassins section without really reading it.

Yeah, I play armies for the way they look, and I do love my female characters. All my characters in World of Warcraft are female, and I'd always play Night Elves in Warcraft 3. The sad part is always when my units inevitably are removed as casualties - that part's always sad.

I know the old Faith system was very good, especially once I learned to use it. The new one's a LOT more straightforward, which will help my opponent learn it should she ever desire to play with the Sisters. I'd imagine it'll be easier for non-Sisters-players to grasp, especially once they see the constant rolls with constant modifiers instead of seeing - with a good Sisters player - that they ALWAYS need a number, sometimes high, sometimes low, but always one that's easy to get. I remember someone talking about their group being confused by that. I play at home, with one person, who trusts me to know the rules. I don't always get em right, of course. Hell, I've been WAAAAAY off in left field on many occasions, but I do my best.

I know that this WD dex is likely a playtest dex, so I've grown to not expect perfection from it over the past few weeks. But it'll get me by, I'm sure. ^_^

Just like they turned Daemonhunters into "Grey Knights with a sprinkling of Inquisition"

At least you don't have people complaining at every opportunity about your codex and the fluff.

Meh, I never payed attention to most things in the WH codex. I just skipped past them to get to the SoB!

Though I do believe the SoB should have gotten an actual Codex instead of a couple pages in WD, I'm glad to see they're not just the Inquisition's blunt-object-for-throwing-at-the-enemy anymore. I hate the Inquisition for similar reasons to Pouncey's, yet I LOVE the SoB. I guess my reaction is not surprising.

In models? None. As a broken college student I can't afford such things. However, I do have a couple thousand points in Vassal from Imperial Fists, Salamanders, Orks and Imperial Guard. I haven't set up a Sororitas army yet, because I want to get my hands on the WD codex first. but, you know what= I think I may kjust send it all to hell and write a list for the WH codex. Yeah, I may do that. But I'll study first.

Without the Inquisition, 40K lacks the grim-darkness that makes it 40K. That said, I don't think the Inquisition has a place on the field in table-top WH40k. While the Inquisition does send armies to war and have Space Marine Chapters at their disposal and all that sort of thing... well, that's fighting a war with someone else's army. The Inquisitor him/herself and their small, personal cadre isn't really a part of this in the main thrust of the battle.

The warband/retinue idea works best in games like Necromunda, or very-low-points WH40K battles.

That said, I wouldn't say they've gotten rid of them so much as rolled them up with other armies... as they did in C:GK. I still think that they should have Inquisitor options as Special Characters or Support options in certain other armies, like IG or SOB, perhaps with certain limitations, given the... rather varied types of troops an Inquisitor could bring along. A Radical Inquisitor and his Retinue could be all of a Special Character slot worth X amount of points, for example, but not if attached to a SOB army. So you get a baseline Radical Inq with his retinue purchased like Wargear, except they become some base-statted models (Assassin, Psyker, and Stormtrooper Bodyguard, for example), with variations on these and the base Inquisitor worth more points and such... so you could have, say, a super-kickass Inquisitor SC in your army.... with a retinue of cannon fodder, or a mid-range Inq with some fair-to-middling sidekicks, or a kinda noob Inq with some pretty-kickass helpers.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
