Subject: AP and Feel No Pain

Hi there, Can some one answer a question that has been bugging me and please support the answer with a rule or FAQ refence.
If the AP of a weapon negates a models save and they have feel no pain can you still make the feel no pain rule?
Eg, Bolter fire onto a ork nob in standard armour who has a pain boy in the squad. He would not get his armour save but would he be able to get the feel no pain role?
Thanks for your help on this!

Yes, FNP works if the AP of the shot is better than your armor. It does not work if you are denied your armor save. There is a difference.

It can pierce your armor but only AP1 and AP2 weapons deny FnP.

Not because the AP is better than your armor, but because ( iirc my book is at home) FnP calls them out specifically.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

FNP only stops working if you could never take an armor save, no matter how good or if wound causes instant death. This includes AP1 and AP2, as you can't have a better armor save.
As a rule of thumb, if you could take a 2+ armor save against the wound and it doesn't kill you instantly, you may use FNP.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

Oh, so no save against Power Weapons, but saves versus like a Krak missile, or other AP3 weapon?
|
"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

Yes, assuming they are are not double (or better) your toughness
So a plague marine, which is T4(5), does NOT get a FNP save against a krak missile (S8, AP3) but a plague bearer, which is T5, DOES

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't ID only apply on multi-wound models?

Nope, Instant death can be in effect for anything not multi wound, it's just that failing the save against the wound that is ID doesn't do anything extra. You still can have wounds that are ID on single wound models

Why should a guardsman be fine by applying bandages after a direct hit from a krak missle, while that huge 10W Doom of Malantai can not regenerate itself with catalyst?

QFT
It's mostly just logic. Anything that could kill a big nasty outright will also kill a smaller thing outright
