Im getting rid of my ork stuff other than what will work in a speed freaks army, and I have about 8 mega-armor orks. Are these guys pretty solid for a speed freaks force, or are thy too points heavy/specialized?

I'd say to points-heavy and to slow to be in a speed freaks army.

What if I just cram 6 into a trukk? Too few units?

I would go for Nob Bikerz if you want a deathstar in a speed freaks army, as although the Manz can take a dedicated transport, that transport wont last long and then they are footsloggin and ineffective.

Nob Bikerz on the otherhand are almost as deathproof if ya give them a cybork and FnP also much versatile in a speedfreakz list.

If you want a really 'ard unit to put your mech with the force field with in the wagon, take a unit of meganobs, with combi-flamers.

Otherwise, if they aren't in a vehicle, they aren't helping.

three megas in a trukk is very effective as a suicide unit.I tend to run about 5 in a battlewagon with the same goal.

Yup those biker nobs sure are "deathproof" once you start taking missiles to the face.......oh wait. Nob bikers are far to expensive (800+pts) and too vulnerable in the current meta to be viable .If you play grey knights you dont want to get into combat or your squad is dead before you can attack and if you dont attack all that S8 shooting is going to by pass FNP.IG and Dark eldar will kill the squad in one turn.Having the nobs in a battlewagon or trukk would be safer and cost half as much as the bikers .

Depends on the size of the squad.

In my BW spam list I am runnin a squad of 4 Nob bikers + a doc for FNP. All cybork etc, armed for wound shenanagins for only 380 pts. buff that with with a warboss on bike with upgrades (150 pts) for a total of 530 pts. Total of 6 bikes. (expensive but nowhere near your over exaggeration)
I find that with my KFF in the BW's and sensable deployment, (using cover, edge of the board, etc) they almost always get their points back. so I guess it all depends on how ya want to go.

P.S against almost all armies except the GK I do find them "deathproof" cover + KFF FTW

Hmm, I'm tempted to go either way. I could get 4 and a boss into a truck I think, and have it follow 3-4 trucks full of boys. Dont BW's go half the speed as trucks, so wouldn't you want to go all trucks or all wagons? I have a bunch of bikes so I could go that route, but most of my stuff is older so getting nobs on the bikes might be a bit of a challange.

If you do decide to get rid of them i'd be interested, as i'm 8 short

They don't really fit a speed freeks army, IMO.Nobz yes, but Mega's are too slow and clunky to fit the ethos.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Might take you up on that. I have 5 trucks and 0 BWs at the moment, so the mega nobz arent going in regardless atm. Still tempted to toss a pack of them in a wagon with a warboss, and field 5 trucks fuill of boyz in front to give them cover as they zip across the field.

(Shoot me a PM if you do decide to offload them, and let me know what you would be looking for for them shipped, as well as their weapon loadouts )

It's a semi-viable tactic

They do make a mess when they hit, but they will be a big obvious pointsink that moves very very slowly when shucked from their transport :(

I personally wouldn't use them in a speed-freek list. Battlewagon bash yes, but not really speed freeks..

Bikernobz with powerklaws would be my preferred pain delivery team There may well be more viable options, but i think they are so cool that they deserve a place in my list
