I play nurgle and am in the process of scratch building the shooty part of the defiler torso. How do you run your defilers. is it best to just give them 2xCCW and then just run as fast as possible into the enemy guns? Lots of people in my area just use them like that. I play a standard nurgle army so i am hurt by horde armies due to the massive outnumbering that happens. Should i take them with 2 HF, a shooty variant. Im not really sure. '

So far my list has
2 winged demon prince of nurgle
2x7 plauge marines with plasma, melta
rhino
dread with ML
land raider
7 lesser demons (for late game objective grabbing)

How would you arm my defiler to provide the best back up for this list. Thanks

In my cave, lying down and waiting for you...

My friends run them with 2xCCW, but on your case, Id suggest the reaper cannon and heavy flamer build up.

Sorry but I dont think lesser deamons can take objectives. I think defilers are best when used in tandem on opposite corners laying down battle cannon fire. Because of this the CC weapon arms are best because you can only fire the ordnance weapons and that it when it comes to shooting. Then when the enemy gets close that's where the CC weapons come in handy. hope that helps.

Lesser Daemons can indeed take Objectives.

Also if you're using a defiler, use two. One is a huge AV 12 target which attracts every AC and ML on the table, hell even assault cannons will reguarly pen.

I run 3, two with X2 extra CCW, one with Havoc and Reaper autocannon.

no matter the angle, I can realibly get off 2 battlecannon shots a turn, whilst one often fleets (DO NOT forget this! I have caught many people unaware by getting a lucky 6" fleet roll, meaning this huge walker has just charged a total of 18" into their line)

I run two each with 2 ccw. It seems like some people kill one and it makes them feel good, then forget about the other one until it starts tearing apart their infantry etc.

Kinda hot in these Rhinooos...

I always rock n' roll with x2 DCCW. The Defiler's cannon is ordinance, which makes me more inclined to use that than a Heavy Flamer or Reaper Autocannon.

rainbow dashing to your side

2XCCW's and 2 lash princes ^^ for you I would do the same but without the princes (seeing as your doing nurgle though there's no reason why you cant make them look nurgley but play them as lash princes)

my little space marine army, now 20% cooler http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/424613.page

As already stated, the battlecannon is ordnance, so no other weaponry can be fired with it. and, you gotta admit, when DON'T you want to fire your battlecannon? only when assault-fleeting, that's when. so 2xCCW for me.

If no one is rolled on the critical rolls, the dice are storing them for an even more critical roll.

I like the autocannon, for a long-ranged backup weapon that's still useful against pretty much any opponent even after the battlecannon has been destroyed, and a CCW.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

I'd keep the autocannon too and swap the HF for a CCW. If you get a weap destroyed, you're going to lose your battle cannon, unless your in CC range. The reaper lets you ping up transports and hopefully open them so you can charge the sweet goodness inside, for example

Has anyone had issues with the HF due to the size of the model making it tricky to lay down an efficient template?

Having the RAC is a good backup plan in case your battle cannon gets blown off.
