So this weekend I purchased a bargain airbrush at a local auction. The Airbrush is a Badger 200 bottom feed airbrush: http://www.badgerairbrush.com/BADGER_200.asp
The airbrush came with a can of propellant which seems to do the trick for starting up, as I am in the process of getting a compressor adapter. The brush sprayed out the air perfectly when I tested it, but after testing well thinned paint and water, nothing was coming out. Strangely enough, the only time I got anything but water to come out of the nozzle was when I accidentally left the cap on the brush. I took the airbrush apart, checked for blockages, checked for anything blocking the paint cup. Nothing. So I come to you all, the people of Dakka. Any suggestions? Any hints at what might be going wrong? I am really not wanting to buy a more expensive airbrush as all I want to do is experiment. Any help at all would be much appreciated.

Air comes out perfectly well, and I'm getting lots of trigger action. There might be something withthe needle, but I doubt that since it was still in the box.

The other thing too is the crap can of propellant you are using, what temperature is the air coming out, is it cool or cold? If so that will clog the nozzle faster than a hooker can get laid on a Friday night...

Got a compressor, it does not have to be anything fancy for starters, just a cheap Harbor Freight one is fine, make sure it has a moisture trap though.

I will tr pics in the morning, but it's a metal cap that screws on o er the nozzle. It's has two or three little vents for something like paint to be able to come out if accidentally left on.
As forthe compressor, I have one but just need a 1/4 adapter toget started.

Sir, you've a way with words...

Anyway, +1.

Your description also sounds a lot like ye-olde tip-dry (common issue with siphon feed brushes), but you said there were no blockages. If it is tip dry, I suggest Acrylic Retarder. Otherwise, grab a compressor. Actually, get a compressor anyway, canned air sucks hard.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?
