Hi guys
I have dicovered this great painting technique and want to share it with everyone
Ok this only works if your colour scheme is dark grey
OK so you dont have to undercoat it put a wash of badab black on the model
wait for it to dry and you get a lovely grey wit shading effects
if you want the grey to be darker then repeat the process again
for flesh though you have to paint it several times
ok hope you like it

Sounds like a good idea if players have an army with a dark grey colour scheme, as you said.

Please do post some pictures so we can see what it looks like

Not really a new technique but if you like that then you will love this guide on using washes to paint an entire model. Let's you break away from the grey only idea. Enjoy.

Ohh I see. Is there not a GW near you? The paints are about £2.50 per paint. Worth buying if im honest. You get a much better look.

Using washes is not a new idea, take a look at this;

This look was achieved almost entirely with GW washes over a red base coat

Slightly of topic but Redfinger how do you go about mounting the minis on toothpicks and is it a good mount?
Is it only good for airbrushing and dpping of good for all painting styles?
Cheers

I have taken to mounting them on toothpicks because it makes them easier for me to handle. Handling a painted mini can result in problems as the oils from your skin can cause the paint to have problems adhering to the model, so I try to touch painted surfaces as little as possible.

As far as mounting them, it is easy. In the case of these marines I simple use a small pin-vice, drill the hole in the foot a few mm's, then dip the end of a toothpick in some super glue and then wedge the end up the hole. Works like a charm. Then I have a tone of foam from the "pick'n'pull" trays that serve as holders for the toothpicks.

Oh I understand. Good idea, I may do that myself.

And as far as putting them on it seems easy

Thanks.
