I want to practice making molds out of GS. I know the GW GS costs like 11 USD for a few oz. is there a place I can buy it like Home Depot, Lowes, or Wal-mart that is cheaper and more of it since I know that I will be ruining most of it trying to make my molds work? Isn't GS just Mighty Putty? https://www.buymightyputtynow.com/?rtag=mightyputty& Note Besides my LGS there are no hobby / modeling shops near by and my local art store is bad so a Super Store Option is what I'm looking for. My CVS sells Mighty Putty.

Just do a google or eBay search on kneadatite. You'll find cheaper supplies of green stuff at greater quantity than GW's pitiful offering.

I'd buy online. The cheapest and most convenient alternative.

Mighty putty looks more like Milliput
Go online as said and you can get GS in longer rolls or tubes which works out much cheaper

You might also want to look into moulding compounds like instamould.

I use a lot of cheap epoxy putty from wal mart. It's intended for patching pipes. That and mighty putty can be used for simple gap filling and such but it hardens FAST. Where the green stuff and other artsy putties come in handy is if you want to sculpt it because they have less catalyst in them and give you longer working time before turning hard.
I use both depending on what I'm doing

^^ That like 10x.
I will note Apoxie probably will not work for press mold making- but it works great when used IN press molds. I can even press apoxie sculpt into my silicone molds (intended for resin bits) and get decent results. I bought a 1lb kit about a year ago, and even doing alot of heavy conversion work and making some walls from Hirst arts molds Ive got about 2/3s of it left. It goes a looong ways

First question: What is the material of the original?
Metal: Go for Vinamould for the actual mould and a reusable putty /mouldmaster/ Instamould.
Any other: Instanmould or a reasonable putty (reusable preferred) and silicon rubber to MAKE the mould
What material will you cast in? Resin can be bought witht he stuff I described avove. Metal will be mor difficult.
Last but not least do not try to save up on release agents. I use a spray for the mould and a powder (Talcum) to conserve and for the master.

I am pimping my personal blog again so here.
http://warfrog.blogspot.com/search/label/Casting
This shows what I use to make pressmolds to mold GS (kneadatite) or ProCreate (which I prefer bc it will set harder than GS)
Instant Mold is outstanding for what you want to do.

Do you have any reputable US sites to buy insta mold and knedite / GS / BrownS or any other good epoxy putty together?
I want to save on shipping but I don't want to buy from any sketchy website.
