So, I'm starting a fresh IG army soon, and I'm running a mech-fast attack list mostly, so naturally I have plenty of veterans. Since the other two doctrines do little from a chimera, I was just wondering about ways to make them appear to have carapace armor instead of normal flak armor.

The only way I can think of right now is taking SM scout arms and legs and matching them with the guardsman body and head, but I'm not sure if they're cast proportionally, so I'm wondering if it would actually work.

An entire society spanning thousands of light years worships a dead guy in a golden throne by killing alien races with genetically mutated supersoldiers dressed in bright blue and gold armor.

And they call religions today stupid.

Honestly, your going to find out quickly that carapace armour does little from a chimera.... Still, if you really want it just use little blocks of green stuff on the legs, knees, and lower back.

Over the hills and far away.

You could possibly use Kasrkin models with converted weapons. Only problem is Kasrkin are expensive... so its not really an option.

Barksdales idea seems pretty good. Sculpting blocks of armour and stuff to pad them out a bit makes em look good and gives it a nice personal touch.

Two options here. The first would be Kromlech, with which I'd shave away that triangle under the collar and call it a day. The other option are Maxmini, which are good to go out of the box.

I used Kasrkin for my carapace vets. However if you're put off by the price then I vote for the GS approach. I did my CCS that way and it worked out ok:

Another option, if you can get the parts easily, it to use Tau legs. They are nicely armoured for the job, but need some fiddling to match up well with human boots. I used this method for my Stormtroopers, with additional GS on the torso and arms.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Thanks everyone, I'll try the GS that everyone suggested, hoping for decent results!

I suppose SM Scouts are too bulky for this?
