Thinking of starting a new army, adn chose orks. Not very familiar with them:

You can't have 5 battlewagons. Other than that the list looks fine. You can take 3 as heavy and 1 as dedicated for the mega nobz.
To be more competitive you have some things to think about.
I'd switch rokkits and cannons out for deff rollaz. D6 str 10 auto hitting is more reliable than BS 2 rokkits. Lootas are nice but they'll be shot off the board turn 1 since they're the only thing on foot/ranged threat. Ghazzy is kind overkill. You're not taking advantage of his special rule of upgraded waagh! So maybe just use a warboss or two for the same cost.

I had the idea of throwing lootas in a battle wagon as a mobile weapons bunker, and it worked too...until i found out that I was playing it wrong. ANY glance or penetrate automatically dissallows it to shoot.
For Gork and Morks sake put those meganobz in a battlewagon! I've run them in a trukk many times, each time they had to hoof it. Trukks blow up if you look at them wrong (a "stray" bolter can blow up a trukk).
A note on kombi rokkits...5pts for a 66% chance of a miss is a waste of points. Those same 5pts will give you a s5ap5 flamer template that auto-hits. Kombi-scorchas are great against nids and other orks and are 3+ to wound MEQs some of them best 5 points in the army.

Whenever I use battlewagons I load them out like this:
battlewagon
red paint job (gets you :::that::: much closer, sooner)
grot riggers (allows you to "fix" an immobilised wagon)
boarding plank (allows power klaw attacks on vehicles that got too close)
armour plates (allows you to always move, unless you're immobilised)
deff rolla (d6 s10 hits on anything you tank shock/ram) extra note weapon destroyed results don't effect it!
2 big shootas (they're act as extra wounds so iy can't get glanced to death)
it comes out to 140 pts
I'll throw 19 slugga boys and a nob with PK and BP
if you want a 4th battlewagon run a squad of 5-7 nobz with big choppas and a claw with a waggh banner and boss pole (upgrded them as points allow)

Personally I think Ghaz is a bit too expensive at 1500. I use him at 2000 or 2500.

Good advice above. Lootas are awesome, though you need to bring 15 of them for volume of fire and to keep them fearless. And always set them up in cover so they get the 4+ save to help them last. I was actually building this list:

Idea is Big Mek and Mega Nobs in Battlewagon giving 4+ cover save, Ghazzghkull in Trukk A or Battlewagon if he's going first so he can get stuck in, or he can Ambush with Snikrot if he's going second to make the enemy set up off the back line and let the Boyz get to them faster. Deffkoptas for vehicles of opportunity.

A battlewagon without a deffrolla is just plain wrong.

At this point level drop ghaz for a big mek with KFF and a normal warboss.

Get those mega nobs in a battlewagon or loose them from your list.

Drop 2 boyz from each mob so If the wagon carrying your HQs gets popped they can just jump aboard another wagon without leaving 20 boyz outside in the cold.

Lootas in BWs as a bunker is deadset full slow stupid no other way to call it go reread your rules.

Try to avoid trucks in your list at all cost they should only be taken after you have ran outta BW models.

@ DreadKnightL: 1000 to 1500 points seems to be the average army list here in San Antonio. I made this up last night and it kinda matched with your list I saw today. You do have 4 Troop choices to my 3, but the points difference went into vehicles abd a Big Mek KFF. Mega Nobs are too ponderous to keep up with the footsloggin Boyz, and Boyz can't keep up with a Battlewagon, so I mounted all of them.

If you want a straight walking army, the Mega Nobs and even Ghazzghull will fall behind. Even putting them in a Battlewagon make him Target #1 as they race ahead of the Green Tide in the only vehicle on your side of the board, You might consider exchanging them for a Warboss and Nobs on foot as well, or even bikes. It might not worrk sonsistantly, but I can't wait to try out my list as it has several possibilities and options.

Looks good I would drop some of the numbers in the nob squad and set them up for wound allocation cheese.

Drop the Choppa from the Lootas... why have 9 guys shooting when you could have 10. Attach the Big Mek to the Lootas to make them Ld 11. The post above with 15 to keep them Fearless is a good idea, but I don't see where you can get the points from unless you drop Nobs or boys.

Get a Warboss to make those Nobs scoring units. Drop the Nob mob down a few to pay for the Warboss.

Ditch the Rockit Launchas for 2 Big shootas. With BS 2, it is more about volume of shots vs quaility.

Running BWs without any upgrades beyond the BW is kind of ridiculous IMO.

You can change where the HQs go as you wish, but the idea of the list stays the same.

Ironically, I had read this before, and thought I had replied.

Ares has the heart of it. Fairly standard and effective Battlewagon list.

I would probably drop(from his list) the Nobz unit completely. And the Warboss. I'd drop the RPJ and grot riggers from the battlewagons.

I'd add 15 lootas in three squads of five, and 12 warbikes led by a PK,BP Nob. The lootas give you that long range anti-infantry/anti-light armor dakka goodness, and the warbikes are a mobile dakka/CC unit with their own cover save.

Differences of style. If you're dealing with a lot of mechanized opponents, it'd probably be good to have a suicide kopta or two in there.
