Doesn't seem much like a Dota-styled game to me, also is it just me or does the game look like a mess all I saw just was spamming of explosions little of the action or map.

If you look at the bottom of the screen, there are four squares, probably the ability buttons. It looks like the big difference is the camera which is not top down. Who knows what else is different though.
If they're saying DOTA style, they're refering to the idea that its a PVP focused reverse tower defense game.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

hi! I'm new here but I thought I'd contribute my two cents on this game since I've been in several of the betas.
I wouldn't say it it's much like League of Legends...It's more like Warhammer Online, where you control a character in third person perspective and push hotkeys. The difference from typical MMO pvp is that you get only 5 abilities, and they are all instant-cast, so unlike MMO PVP you aren't standing around waiting for spell bars if you are a ranged character. Melee characters tend to run faster than ranged characters and have various snare/magic/melee resistances depending on the hero. It also doesn't have any minions or anything, and the game modes aren't just base defense (in fact, they don't even have a mode like that in it yet)
It's a little chaotic - lots of spell effects going off and stuff, but once you get past the epilepsy, it's a pretty exciting game and there is definitely room for teamwork and tactics in iit. On the surface it definitely looks like a spamfest, but it isn't exactly easy to take down characters, and if your team doesn't coordinate on targets it can be hard to accomplish anything.
Once I got a few of my friends together and started coordinating, we started having a LOT of fun and we had a few really competitive matches. The 3 team mechanic is also very interesting and leads to interesting team ups with enemies and times when you say to your team "oh just let blue and orange kill each other for a bit, then we'll go in and mop up!"
The main thing they've done is to give all the heroes fairly hard counters. You generally want to pick targets based on what class they are and what class you are. You can switch each time you die though, unlike league of legends.
So, it's pretty fun but probably not for everyone. I like it and am excited for more, especially because I LOVE the Skaven.

Eh, looiks okay, but anything that is "like dota" instantly makes me hesitant, as dota sucks hard.
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

It's really nothing like dota from what I've experienced. It's pretty much warhammer online pvp, but with three teams instead of two, and no cast times on abilities.
