Hi guys,

it's been a while so I i thought i'd share some pics of a recent 2nd co. BA commission with you. I've still got a few tweaks to do here and there, and finish up the odd bit like the lenses on the dreads, and i'm currently learning the ins and outs of a nice dslr that I borrowed recently too, so once i've got my head round that i'll get some better full-army shots including the other vehicles and interiors etc.

My crappy cam really struggles with reds, so if anything looks a bit gakky or flat on your screens, its just my pics, not my painting... honest!

Anyways, hope you like!

Cheers,

Andy

Very, very nice work. I sympathize with your problems with photographing red. A lot of cameras have problems with it.

I LOVE the dark gold on the Sanguinary Guard, and would really like to know how you painted it. Please share when you get a moment.

EDIT: Or, on second look, it looks like those may be Honor Guard. Whichever they are, I would love to steal your gold recipe!

Oh, and how did you make that amazing goblet?!

Thanks guys.

The gold on the Honour Guard is my usual recipe based on a chainmail/shining gold mix. Shaded with devlan mud then black, and highlighted with mithril silver. Easy peasy.

The goblet/chalice was sculpted from greenstuff and sprue. The cup part was formed over the domed end of a paintbrush handle, then glued to the stem (just a power sword arm with the blade/pommel chopped off). A bit of circular sprue was then carved out and glued on for the base of the chalice, and finally the winged skull was gs'd on the cup.
It's overflowing with blood too, which you can't see in the pics as it's tipping back away from the camera, and running down the outside of it.

That gold is very similar to one I do except your's has greater coverage. All of it looks amazing! Wish my ba's were that good... :(

I love the facial scruff!
How do you paint that on? It's probably super simple...but I would like to try it on my next miniature!

Auxellion - The ferns (and most of the other jungle floor plants) are brass etch pieces from Hasslefree and the citadel basing kit. The gakky dirt and mulch is a blend of yorkshire and mint teas, and the other bit are woodland scenics' fine leaf foliage, and the giant pitcher-plants were made from putty/more brass etch.

theQuanz - It's just codex grey glazed on after the skin tones were done. You can easily vary the 'length' of the stubble by making more passes with the grey to strengthen the effect. You can also use different tones to vary the hair colour obv - ie adding browns or darker greys etc. Heck, you could even go ginger!

Hope this helps.
