Or should that be Klan Kolours? Hurr hurr

Hey guys, thinking about doing up a Snakebite orks mob to join my growing tribe (just to add some variety). Problem is Im not actually sure of the clan colours, and other than some conversion work Im not sure what to really do for making a really compelling and good-looking Snakebites mob.

Ive googled some images, looked around on the gallery here and so on, and the best I could get is that Snakebite orks are just a motley bunch of mis-matched khaki and various shades of brown, which I dont think looks all that interesting or fun. The only other thing I can find, other than tattoos/warpaint is the occassional white and red dag patterns on their clothes, weapons and even skin, which I think is pretty cool and definitely fits with the Snakebites theme.

However I really think the khaki and light-brown scheme (which seems to be the most prominent colour scheme for Snakebites near as I can tell) is kinda boring. Just wondering if you guys have any advice on what to do here, or if you have any ideas/suggestions, or even pics on what you think a good-look Snakebites mob should look like.

Cheers

Snakebites schemes are generally, as you said, a variety of browns and khakis, accompanied by the red and white zags and various warpaint.

Imho, if you don't like a scheme, then you probably don't do that army. That's like saying you want to play Emperors Children but don't want them to be pink. If its their fluff that has you wanting to play Snakebites, you could always do a make up your own mob, as the primary 6 clans are huge and there are many sub tribes within them.

I personally think a scheme is only as boring as you allow it to be. With various warpaints, markings and patterns, Orkz can be one of the most visually stunning armies to play. Maybe even encomapass a theme/marking to certain squads or even the entire force. Example right off the top of my head: Skarzug's Gore-Teefs: A group of hardened Nobs that are identified by their red painted jaws. A little bit of fluff can go a long way

Hope that helps a bit!

Hm, that's a shame.

I really was going to go with the warpaint thing to really hammer home the fact they're Snakebites. Mostly using the traditional red-and-white dag patterns, as well as white warpaint on their faces, as I want to run a small mob of the 'Bone 'Eads' Mobs.

But Ill see what else there is. Cheers guys

Well, it is Orks, so there's no 100% way you have to paint them.

For Snakebites the modeling might be more important than the colour scheme. Things like skull trophies, toof necklaces, feathers etc would work well.

I would go more on the brown spectrum for their clothes, but the accent colour could really be anything.

My thoughts are similar to More Dakka's on this, I've always seen Snakebites as more of a modelling thing than a colour scheme.

Apart from keeping to the more 'natural' looking colours I'd say you do pretty much whatever you liked.

The 'natural' brown/green colours are because Snakebites are relatively lo-tech and so use natural dyes on their clothing - the resulting colours aren't a deliberate choice, just the colours more likely from natural dyes.

As a clan colour though, or just before a battle, a clan may well then add some other contrasting colour, along the lines of Ancient Scots wearing blue warpaint, or the LoTR orcs wearing white hand-prints.
