I will be entering a doubles tournament at my flgs on the 26th of October with and 800pts limit per player, both armies need to be legal. i have the list sorted however am unable to decide between using either wulfrik or a tooled up hero to fill the general and last 185pts. If I use the hero i was hoping you guys could help me with ay useful builds.

Sounds like fun this build is what I use for my bsb so here he is
hero
mot
tali of endurance
dragon helm
shield
biting blade
optional is the iron curse icon
he comes to something around 170 ish.
He has 2+ armor 4+ ward does -3 to armor and is good times.

I would say meh to him people will stay close to the table edges and make the rest of your guys walk further. Unless your partner is pure gun line other than that he's someone that you might want to stay away from.
Try maybe festus you have magic and in a mok marauder unit with gw they all have regen basically it's nasty haha.

What the original plan was for me to the have the more combat oriented army with a fighty general, whereas my partner (also playing chaos) is playing a tzeentch mage. Therefore not so keen on festus, are there any other builds you could recommend as i found your chaos tips to be rather helpful when forum browsing

The one he gave before is pretty damn good. But it depends, what is the rest of your army?

Rest of the list is 40 khorne gw marauders, 10 chosen 5 knights which actually only leaves 160 points

I would drop the chosen for warriors with halbers and the flaming standard put the hero in there.
That should save some points
Maybe drop the knights for more marauders and or warriors.
That would be your best bet in my opinion.
Since halberds and flaming banner means hey hydra after I hit you you dont get regen saves haha.

but ya knights are at leas 200 points for 5 guys might as well invest that in more feet on the ground that would do you more good.

Basically in reagrds to me not haveing that many feet (discounting the 40 marauders) it being doubles my partner has the blocks of warriors and sorcerer support for the army, idea being my part being hard hitting centre t the force with flanking knights joining his horsemen

how about:

exalted hero - 154pts
- shield
- +2str common sword

nice and cheap with a hard as nails statline and has 4 attacks at str 7

could drop the shield and swap the sword for the chaos runesword, no-one will like a str6, ws8, 5 attack beast (he's a mighty 160pts with a 4+save though...)

What do you really need str 7 for?
Ok if he is going to go after t8 stuff then sure but he is not mobile enough for that.
I would prefer to give him +2 attacks so he can kill more per turn.
If he is in a unit that is.
If its a mobile disc guy I could see that happening but other than that meh.

other chaos armies, T5 characters (they will be there - skaven plague priests for example), something other than the never "that" reliable magic that can put some hurt on monsters, knights etc...

i always aim for at least str 6 on a hitty character, otherwise you just wont get the wounds in.

why not go a bit defensive:

exalted hero - 200pts
- mark of khorne
- juggernaught mount
- dawnstone (re-roll armour saves)

unless your opponent ignores armour or is str 7+ (see above argument for characters ) that guy will not be going down anytime soon. i know he's on the points limit now but my BSB is just that guy with a halberd (and obviously, the battle standard ) and most people in my group hate him

Oki run mine mot bsb dragon helm tali of endurance shield iron curse.
He's 200 2+ armor 4+ ward 1+ ward against flaming attacks as well as doing -3 to armor and he has a magic weapon.
He has served me well except last game none of my units reached combat.
But usually he lives large and kicks butt.

I like the Sword of Swift Slaying on my exalted if I have 25 points. The rerolls to hit are a big deal since he is getting at best a 3+ to hit. I also am a big fan of the dragon helm; it goes in every list.
