How does one build a BSB? I know some factions have pre-made ones, like the Lizardmen, but the Skaven don't really have a dedicated model for it.

How do you make a model that is clearly identifiable as a BSB? I don't want my opponents thinks it's just a regular standard for the unit it's in.

Well, to start with: what equipment do you want the battle standard bearer to have?

Is he wearing heavy armor? Light armor?

These seem like fairly innocuous questions not really relevant, but as work progresses it becomes far more important.

Ive had the same problem so the idea with two rats standing on each other was a good idea! Ill keep checking this thread in hopes other ideas might be brought to light.

If you are running a Skyre army, you could also have some kind of steam and warpstone powered contraption (like those goliath anti-tank bombs) with a dude standing on top. It would add height, without the need to model the two skaven ontop of eachother.

1. Pick a model you want to use as a BSB
2. Give said moddel a taler base, different look or something along those lines. Make sure he looks apart
3. I have found that a different Sceem of collors helps alot.

If it were me, I'd go for a "kitbash" option.

The Stormvermin's standard bearer certainly looks like he'd fit the part, especially if you can find a suitably fancy looking sword to give him and go out of your way to add a few trophies and the like to his banner.

I have multiple Black Reach sets so I use the Warlord model for both my Warlord and my Chieftan (BSB). I simply cut the back banner off the one that became my Warlord and left it in place for my BSB Chieftan.

Giant ass banner. Possibly a bad ass model.

I used the warlord with great weapon model, and replaced the Dwarfs head with a spare standard from the plague monks kit.

It works for me.

The way I made my Orcs and Gobbos one was easy. Normal guy (e.g clanrat) fancier weaponry (e.g stormvermin stuff) something that is uniquely skaven (I used a shield and strapped a sword to it) and somehow encorporate a banner (I glued it to his back.)

Bitz sites are your friends for actual banners- it doesn't matter what it's from, so long as it looks good.

See if you can find OOP banner models to use as a BSB.
