*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

Ok so I got tabled by a DE player who got a venom spam list in a tournament and this left me dazzled as this was my first experience against de, I know this is a WAAC list so for genuine help how do I defeat/table a venom spam list with CSM?

Cheers to all comments.

As a DE player who has faced a lot of Chaos in my day...um...good luck?

What you need to deal with DE is to de-mech them before they eat you alive, and CSM really suffer for bringing enough stuff to do so successfully. I think Oblits are probably your best tools (and start them on the board, you don't need to deep strike in with meltas to gak with our armor - just firing heavy bolters or 3x lascannons will do fine)

After that...I guess Preds and squads with plasma weapons... Demon Princes don't work well against us. Nurgle units do okay, but will be wittled down. The toughest list of CSM I recall facing was mostly 3x Oblits and a lot of Nurgle stuff hiding in Rhinos and shooting at me from inside them. I had a vast superiority in firepower though, so I still tabled him fairly readily.

But, yeah, sorry that's so depressing and unhelpful. I would say focuse on multi-shot, mid strength, 36"+ range weapons, and spam them as best you're able, because the primary goal is de-meching, if you can do that you can probably win.

I've had this same problem. Worst 2 hours of gaming in my life. I feel your pain.

Chaos don't have it as bad as Tyranids against Dark Eldar. =p

Obliterators are your friends, and believe it or not, so are defilers in this particular matchup - Reaper autocannons, and possessed go far.

Nurgle marines in rhinos with havoc launchers, and you're all set. Poison ignores the benefit of T5, but you've still got a 3+/4+ FNP against every wound, and you can use cover to negate the power of lances and blasters if you get de-meched.
