So I went to my flgs today and everyone was dressed like a pirate. they had pirate cake and I heard "Yarg" a lot. Of course was the dreadfleet release (at least here in amsterdam).
But now my question, where any of you guys dressed up as a pirate today? To celebrate dreadfleet?

My local GW was supposedly gearing up for it. Luckily, I had a game of 40K with a friend at a different location, as opposed to being surrounded by a group of screaming children and teenagers being chivvied on by a manager in a plastic eyepatch, to celebrate a release that most of them are incapable of affording.

Well I was there to get some 4k stuff and wass pretty unaware of the release. But I have to say that the parrents of the pre-teens had enough to afford it..

There's a lot of fun to be had dressing up as an adult.

Very true. Simply find any paintball place that has a woodsball area, or find a historical reenactment group.

Hell, the people at Colonial Williamsburg looked like they were having a good time.

But... dressing up for Dreadfleet? Meh. I don't think the whole 'cutting off my mutated fishtail and putting on two peg legs would go over well.

QFT. Think of the lamest costume you can, then go play paintball in it. You instantly make like 5 friends just for dressing up like that. You make more friends if you dress like that and you're good at paintball.

Example - I felt my paintball suit just wasn't professional enough for a day at the fields. I mean, people arguing and getting angry all the time MUST mean it's serious business. So, I went with the flow and wore a full business suit to play paintball in, even had a briefcase that I stored my spare ammo in. Upon first seeing me, people thought two things. "Wow that guy must be serious" and "wow I'm going to shoot him first!", but not in that particular order.

This is pure win. I'd like to dress up either in a Napoleonic era costume (and now that makes me want to play paintball Napoleonic-style), or in a Santa suit. I think seeing Santa coming out through the trees while screaming bloody murder would stun the little 'uns enough for me to get a few shots off. Unless my gun un-cocks, like the last time I tried that.

*Remembers being shot up by a half dozen kids with speedball guns* Ouch.

I dress up as an adult all the time.
Except for when I wear a big nappie and get looked after by a "nursie" but that is another story.

I imagine it was at least as annoying as a GW event or booth at an event where constant "Waaaghs!!!" can be heard.

Yeah, they did it in my local one as well. It was a bit trying, what with the silly outfits and people screaming anytime someone did something in the big Dreadfleet game. I was there for the store's birthday raffle, since I had one ticket from finishing off my Dark Eldar. It wound up being somewhat worthwhile, as I won the main prize, the store's own copy of Space Hulk.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Ann Summers certainly knows theres a market for adults dressing up. The animaniacs didn't have the catchphrase "helloooooooooooooooooooo nurse" for nothing!!

I was planning to go dressed up, or at least wear my bandanna, when I went to collect my copy of Dreadfleet. But it really was too hot. the GW guys were dressed up, Dudley store, and seemed to be having a great time. Dreadfleet looks great but I've not had time to play it yet.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

You might say they missed the boat (ho ho).

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

The guys in GW York were all dressed as pirates for the release of Dreadfleet.

I am ashamed to admit that it is the first time in my life that I was to embarrased to actually go into the store - and I didn't even want bloody Dreadfleet!

Maybe I'm finally growing up......(sob).
