As I'm building my white scars chapter, and khan looks cool. I'm not too familiar with C:SM. I don't like bikes, but I like fast things. This includes drop pods, rhinos, razorbacks, and jump packs.

How viable is an army with deep strikes tac squads and dreadnoughts, having out flanking land raiders and razor backs with sternguard, all being supported by long range firepower? I really like this fast attack concept, a far cry from my chaos, but im not sure how good it is.

Id like to know if this is good before I drop nummi

If you like fast things, then maybe you should try BA rather than C:SM.

Just in case you don't know, the BA codex has several things that might fit what you're looking for.

First, every vehicle in the Codex, with the exception of Land Raider variants, is Fast. They can therefore move 18", or move 12" and shoot one weapon, or move 6" and shoot everything.

We also get a Predator variant that has the Scouts USR. You can take 3 regular Predators too, and all of them are Fast. The Scouts version has a TL Assault Cannon turret, which is great against weak side and rear armor.

In addition, you can take Assault Marines as Troops. They get all the stuff that Vanilla Assault Marines get, plus they can take Meltaguns and Plasmaguns. They also have access to a Melta Pistol, and they still get the 35 point discount on Transports, including Razorbacks, which are Fast.

Also, any model with a Jump Pack can re-roll for reserves, and only scatters D6 when Deep Striking. This means Vanguard Veterans can actually be useful.

Finally, there is an IC you can take out of the Elite slot, up to 3 per slot, which gives all units within 6" Furious Charge and Feel No Pain.

The upshot of all of this is that if you want an Assault based Space Marine list, Blood Angels are probably the best choice. This is especially true if you like Assault Marines. In fact, the regular SM codex has very few areas of strength compared to the Blood Angels codex. Basically, they boil down to Vulkan and Bike armies. The loss of Chapter Tactics hurts too. The only units that aren't in the BA codex are the special characters, the Land Speeder Storm, the Legion of the Damned, Master of the Forge, and Thunderfire Cannons.

It depends. There is a lot of recieved wisdom suggesting that Combt Tactics is more important than Outflank-but if you're not playiing bikes, then maybe that is less true.

There's no reason to use bikes for White Scars-but consider Landspeeders as a fluufy-and effective-replacement. Fast, mobile melta and Missile platforms fit very well nto the WS ethos..

The odd thing abou White Scars is that they are a codex chapter, but the fluff says they don't use Devastators or Dreadnaughts..andI would be tempted to use the BA codex for them-it seems to fit in a bit better with the FA ethos IMO...

Whilst it is true combat tactics is an awesome rule, outflank is pretty great as well. You will want to use a lot of outflank as otherwise the lose is too great.

Dreads will not be able to outflank. They can drop pod alone and die or come on from your side. Dev. squads as an example could outflank but they wouldn't shoot or they could be set up from the start and die. There are not so many units that have combat tactics so I see two options.

Razorbackspam. This way you can outflank heavy weapons and shoot first turn they arrive. This hopes having the first round of shooting makes the desired impact.

Bikers. You may not have the ranged guns but bikes can still get to the enemy.

Another unit to consider is tigurius. Yes, another 230 pts on a HQ. However he makes it so on average 75% of your force arrives on turn 2 and furthermore it is highly likely that at least 50% of your army will arrive.
You should also have some plans of what to do when you can not outflank.

From what I have heard one of the most effective tactics is to put him with a squad of TH/SS termies, toss them in a LR and watch them beat stuff up
