I'll admit it now, im that that big of a fan of the stock Leman Russ, so when and if i can find a suitable alternate for it, i'd be more then happy to plunk that down on the table instead. I got to looking at old Tanks online since i had nothing else to do, and one particular tank struck me, that it could be a good example if converted properly. A WWII Era Brittish Churchill tank. One of the biggest things that pops to mind, would be extending the armor plating on the outside of the tracks, down towards the bottom, get it look more like one solid, welded and riveted peice. Fix the armements to proper imperial tech, and insure the Aquila gets stampped on there somewhere.. Im wondering, does anyone else have some thoughts to this?

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

Maybe it could work. 1/48 scale would be a similarish size to 40k tanks, if not more proportional (less wide, more length usually)

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

That would be a great tank for trench warfare type
IG armies.

I think you should go for it.

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

I could be wrong, but I think tamiya makes 1 in 1/48 scale

I was considering doing this very same thing - historically there was a variant called the Churchill AVRE mounted with a huge mortar - perfect for repping a LR Demolisher. Couldn't find any affordable models of it though.

Good luck!

I think the Churchill is an excellent candidate for a Russ alternative. Another excellent option in 1/48 scale would be the Russian KV2 large turret version. It's exagerated dimensions just scream 40k.

Here's a very affordable version of the KV2 large turret.

You'd have to 40kify it with over-size barrels and some choice selections from the vehicle accessory sprues.

They're deceptiviely ginormous tanks those.

Here's a photo of me astride a real one.

Great pic. Here's a KV2 done up as a Russ. Not mine, but a google search of "KV2 Leman Russ" shows others.

Pretty simple switch of the barrel and adding a H-Bolter. The later is made easier because the KV2 as a small vertical section at the front of the hull so its relatively easy to splice on whatever heavy weapon one wishes.
