That's my thought, yet RR can save my life if I tankshock, and Grot Riggers can keep me moving and dodging the assaults.

But I was getting the bigger picture because Its so close.

If you have a boomgun, you really wont be moving too much once youve found a decent place to park, so the only useful upgrade from my perspective i the 'ard case, which will make you that wee bit more survivable from their anti tank stuff.

If you are having to move that much, the other upgrades wont help you much if you have a 10 point budget, and are too situational to be of use to an ordnance tank i reckons

You're probably going to be targeting the anti-tank units with it anyway, so I've got to go with big shootas.

1) You're already a target with the boomgun, big shootas are a deceptive addition that are too easily discounted when your opponent sees that big cannon.

2) 'Ard Case CAN make that one critical save, but the shootas are an every-turn chance of causing a couple more critical wounds on whatever you're firing on.

3) DAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKA - 'nuff said.

Since you said that we can include choices that are good....

The best choice would be to take the looted wagon with the boomgun OUT of your army list, and use those points for something better.

There's only three units you should really stay away from in the codex - Flash Gitz, Looted Wagons, and Warbiker Boyz. Everything else has a place in different army lists and themes. Then again, each of those three unit types have some staunch defenders. Then again, those staunch defenders generally have no success or mediocre results to point to as a defense of their poor codex selections.

Oh yeah, warbikers are terrible. What exactly can you use in the FA slot anyway?

please slap me if im wrong, but the boomgun is an ordnance weapon and therefore you cant fire any other weapons if the boomgun fires?

i dont have my books here so cant confirm but im pretty sure thats the case, thus meaning the BS'd only become useful if the boomgun suffers a weapon destroyed...which n my mind is all the more likely if you remain open topped!

Exactly otherwise It would be more Dakka everytime.
I'm a staunch defender of the Boomwagon and my win loss Is around 13-1 with it. Losing to harliquins and that darn Shadow Veil thing.

Anyway I also defend flash Gitz

Back on topic Ard Case seems popular so I might go with that unless you can shoot Ordanance and Fire other weapons and Move and shoot your Ordanance.

Round me Its lots of Nids, CSM, IG and SM.

I'm the only Ork player, and everyone fears the Boomgun except the IG they just panic because Blobs fall against my 45 Orks.

rokkit buggies or koptas are probably the best units. I prefer rokkit buggies myself
