I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else.

Whenever I buy any new model, unless its on a an MC 60mm base, or a large oval base, I always get an extra base. I bought Raverners last Christmas. Extra Terminator sized base. Bought a SM battleforce the year before that. Got 4 extra. One for each squad. Terminators had 6 bases, and even a Tyrant Guard had an extra base! Every time!

Is this normal? I ain't complaining, just wondering.

Yea, I always get extras. What I really wish I had were more legs though. I get extra everything... but legs.

So far I'm 2 for 2 in getting a boatload of extra 25mm bases from Scout Sniper boxes.

I have lots of extra bases. Sniper scouts indeed had extra bases. The most bases I got was a box of either Howling Banshees or Warp Spiders (can't remember which) that contained four or five extra bases.

I think someone at the Citadel Packing Plant likes throwing in a few extras to help out us modelers.

I got a box of Wyches from the friend. Turns out he'd taken and used all the bases, so I'm improvising 28mm bases out of sprue, etc.

The SM cvommand and dev squad box contains 6 pairs of legs each. One of them is the kneeling set. So I made on set into a scrathbuilt Sicarius, and the other into a a guy for a design compoitition for my store. Hwe has 2 PF, both with the pointing firnger, pointing slightly up and outwards, in opposite directions.

From rthe extra legs in the command box, I made a SM with LC and PP, and put him on the back of a Dark Elf Cold One. After glueing a Stormbolter to it's neck, |I now use it as a Captain on a Bike.

we will never get extra legs dudes. thats the way games workshop controls the model count they sell, since you might have dozens of torsos heads or weapons without legs they are not incredibly useful. And someone in this for a few years would probably have enough of these to arm a leg part completely. So you would get more models for free and games workshop doesnt lıke that now does ıt?

Back to the subject happened once with the coteaz and the retinue but it was 3 paris of bases instead of 5 normal so maybe they just didnt bother to split them up?

I get a few extras occasionally. It seems to be far more common in WHFB though, where I can get a box of 12 models with 20 bases.

I think a lot of the tiny packages are in bundles of 10, so 10 or 20 is not uncommon in a box.

I have a Orc Savages kit, and it came with 13 bases, including the long one for the Big Stabba. I assume the extra 2 bases are for if you don't want the Stabba.

The box sets such as Battle for Maccragge and AoBR usually contain way more than need. Slottwed ones thopugh. I used the locator beacons from the Terminator and Macragge kits, the fusion core from BfM, the 3 spore mine things from BfM and the same things from the genestealer kits, and put them on slotted bases, with the slots filled by sprue and Green Stuff.

Ok I must be special or something. I bought a tau battleforce. There are models enough in there to make 35. For some reason they sent me an extra BAG of 28mm bases. Not like 1 or 2 extra. I literally have 30 extra bases. I'm set for life. Apparently this is a fluke...

Happens all the time to me. Kind of hoped they'd go back to the sort of base sprue they had so there'd be even more spare bases.

That's not anything new. I figured it out in 2008, 2 weeks into starting the game. I'm sure thousands of others know this as well. Hence why, if you're good at sculpting, you can work out some extra models.

Actually, and I swear to the Emperor, tjhe Chaos Gods, Khaine, Gork and Mork, the Void Dragon, whatever, that I actually did find 2 fortunes in a cookie once. The first said, " your true love is very close." The second said " You shall win the big contest today."

That same night, this girl I like phoned me and asked if I would take her to her school formal. Not to mention my parents missed out on the lottery by a single digit.

Their numbers were 25, 19, 17, 12, 4 and 7. The numbers that came up were 25, 19, 16, 12, 4, and 7. So Close. It lied.

But alas, my other fortune also lied. She was drunk when she phoned me. Needless to say she was embarrasseed, as was I.

That's why I've almost doubled my IG's grunts (and believe me, you never have enough bodies with IG). With the command squad sprue (3 extra torsos) and FW conversion sets (5 to 10 torsos, depending on the set), I found myself with about 30 or more to spare, not counting the absolutely overwhelming number of arms (albeit always holding damn lasguns, flamers and GLs) and heads (mostly with the same, constipated expression) and heavy weapons from HWS. So I now have guardsmen manhandling HWs while traversing a river reaching their mid-section, wounded guardsmen under thermic blankets of aluminium foil (with drips and medical equipment hanging about), poor sods half eaten by gaunts or buried by ruins, crouching snipers hidden by ghillie suits, soldiers hitching a ride on a tank and taking a look from the back top hatch of a chimera or running with sprue and grren stuff legs or augmetic ones built with spare bits.

On the OP's question, I seem to be lucky, too, as I almost always find a few additional bases in the boxes, not counting character blisters with four-bases sprues and the obvious double-system spare bases from demons (which I use for WHFB).

Gotten extra bases on a couple of occasions. The most common is from buying individual metal models which use 25mm bases. They'll often toss in a full 4 base sprue. Probably cheaper to toss in a little extra plastic then worry about separating them.

I just bought AOBR a few weeks ago and got the exact amount of bases needed :(
