Important: Please remember to put the MotM prefix in the format below in your PM's subject field before you send me it!

First off, I'd like to apologise again for the delay in getting this month's Miniature of the Month competition up and running, but alas here it is! September's edition of MotM produced a winner who walked off with a massive 58 votes! See the entries from last month here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/401627.page. And if you'd like to congratulate the winner of September's edition, here's the thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/401980.page. Will it be a more equal contest this month? Only one way to find out - get your best entry in!

Entries need to be PM'd to me by October 28th, 11pm (EST) with the prefix “[MotM]”. Example: [MotM] Tau Piranha.

UK users -> 28th by 3am.
PST users -> 27th by 8pm.
German users -> 28th by 4am.
Japanese users -> 28th by 12 noon.

You can use any miniatures you want for this - they don't need to be new. However, they must be your own work!

But finally to the main event: the theme of the October 2011 MotM competition is....

Open Season
Continuing with the trend set by September's edition, there's an entirely new theme for you this month. For the first time, you can enter absolutely anything you want. There are no limits whatsoever. Whether it be a Forge World Titan, or an Ork Grot. If you think it has what it takes to win, enter it. However, you may only enter a single model.

Good luck!

Here's the quick "How To" on mini photography:
Miniatures should be placed against a pale/muted background (preferably white paper, or a sheet, or even in a light box if you have one), with natural lighting. Use the "macro" function on your camera (usually a little flower) and take a shot of the whole thing. If you need to make the picture massive to get the quality of the shot perfect, then crop it in Photoshop, Paint or any other suitable editing software, and then post it. There are no rules on how you may pose your miniature, but as face-on as possible is preferable.
