Hi Guys

I am playing in an Escalation league in November that starts out at 500 points.

In this league you submit armies before you know who your opponent is, so it's best to field with most options considered.

There are representatives from every faction (that I know of) except Sisters Of Battle and I am probably the most worried about Tyranids

My Current lay out for 500 point is

Warboss
5 Nobs w/ big choppa
10 Boyz (1 upgraded to nob)
1 Trukk with side access and red
1 looted wagon with boomgun
5 burnaz

Thoughts?

(sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum earlier)

Do NOT take the nobz as a troop choice, or even a squad at all for that matter.

use those points to get more boyz, 10 boyz is nothing, the least amount of boyz you ever want in a squad is 11 being led by a PK nob (making the squad 12)
and even than they have to be in a trukk.

also don't take burnaz either, get more boyz.

1 trukk is target practice for any weapon in the game pretty much, it's either all trukks or none.

get you're warboss a PK if possible.

and looted wagons are generally not that grand of a unit to take.

as stated get more boyz, or some killa kans with rokkits or KMB to take care of enemy armor.

Hopefully I was a helpful good luck at the tournament!

deff dreads are competitively worse than kans

kans have everything dreads do...with better BS

I think dreads are a bit better in CC but not by much...

also...I can't give many specifics because I still cant find my fething CODEX!!!

What about this

10 boys 1 nob upgrade
10 boys 1 nob upgrade
10 boys 1 nob upgrade
1 warboss with power claw
1 battlewagon with zzap gun
1 deff dread with scorcha rokitt dreadnaught

Getting better, but don't take 10 man boyz mobs

put 2 of those squads together to get a 20 mob squad for the battlewagon

and put 12 other boyz in a trukk...I know I said 1 trukk is just target practice but it's better than footslogging 10 boyz across the map

No Kans are awesome sauce.

They hit better, have decent armor. Coupled with a mek with a KFF. They are the best.

This is what I run when I do 500 pts. People hate it as everything in the army has 4+ save due to cover.

Mek
-KFF
15xboys
-Nob PK,BShoota
Dread
-2xsBShootas
2xKans
-Rokkits
2xKans
-Rokkits

This is what I run, but honestly its not the only build to win in a 500 pt game. There are alot of 500 pt builds out there that could work too. Yours is ok. Not the greatest but will do ok I think.

I can't fit the trukk in the build with all that.

I'd say take a KFF Mek and as many Trukks crammed full of Boyz as you can. Solid foundation for a solid army.

- Frosty Hardtop - - 4000 points - - 1000 points and rising.

Gives the boyz a 5+ cover save. For 85 points, 1/3 of all incoming shooting attacks will be saved. Makes an even bigger difference at higher points. Vehicles get a 4+ cover save. The KFF is an incredibly efficient use of points. Bombboy has a real solid and competitive list for 500 points. Many armies will have difficulty dealing with 60+ models at 500 points.

Just make sure you don't advance your entire army through area terrain for half the game. One Ork player I was up against made that mistake and let my Space Wolves get into charging distance. It turns out that KFFs don't help against chainfists.

KFF's don't help in CC at all. It does double the chance of survival for foot-slogging boyz, but it's best use is on vehicles.

This is a truth.

The KFF is dakka defense, solely there to get more of your boyz to your targets. In many ways, it coincides with transports as another facet of a delivery system. The fact that both can be combined allows for some brutal combinations.

ahhh c'mon Janthkin I want to know what he had to say....

but I'll just leave with a "haters gonna hate"

seems to work, and yes the KFF mek is a beast when used with transports or a kan wall which I run at 2k points

It wasn't to insulting don't you worry.
I was merely pointing out your mathematical error in your list.

It's not 500P since the Boyz squads are 470P and the Mek 85P.

I suggest you redo with better maths just don't want you cheating
