So recently I posted a thread about my copy of Dawn of War 2 not wanting to install, seems my bad luck continues . Seems Napoleon: Total War was not the wisest choice to trade my dud copy of DoW2 for. The game installs normally off the disc, however once it's finished with that it requires almost 1000 mb patch to download off of steam! . So while that is loading I decide to install the other game I got with it which was Empire Total War. The install goes smoothly and the patching only takes about an hour. Unfortunately when I go actually play a battle the screen is completely warped, colours are mashed and is completely unplayable. I'm starting to think my PC hates me....

So if anyone has any solutions for the above or has had the same experience please share.

Quick update: Seems updating the drivers sorted out the "warping issue" but for anyone who has a low end PC I advise just turning the shaders to level 2 (although the graphics will be dodgy). The game is bloody fantastic now that it's actually running!

Some reason the cutscenes seem a bit laggy with the sound (imagine George Washington rapping and you'll be close), but other than that the the campaign map and the battles run fine.

Any graphical errors are usually because your video card might not be up to scratch. you're right about turning down the shaders, that's usually the problem with slightly outdated graphic cards... I would advise you to invest in a new card, it makes every game run -so- much smoother... I bought myself a new one a while ago and I never want to go back! You can get a decent card for around 60 euros, those are not even the top range cards, but they can handle pretty much every game out there on full settings. I have a GeForce GTS 250... but there's many other choices.

I have a 4500 HD Radeon so it's not the graphics card thats the problem, the actual gameplay itself looks beautiful, did find the issue for the wierd stuttering though. Seems I had a corrupted Bink32.dll causing the sound stutter issue. Oh well its all fixed now and I'm finally enjoying the WHOLE game.
