Recently my friend and his IG played my other friend who also had IG. Friend A Scouted his Valkerie right next to friend B's sentinal, like I told him. This was in order to gain the Valkerie a 4+ flat out cover. However, when he did this and was shot at by the Sentinal's PC, he was told by everyone that it did not gain the 4+. The PC immobilised the Valk, and EVERYONE said it was now destroyed because it moved Flat Out in its last movement phase. Is this ruling correct? It seems to me, contradictory. He moved Flat out, so weas immobilised, but didn't get the 4+ for moving flat out? For those who are interested, he lost big time. He, this being his mistake, thought that the Valk exploded. In the porcess he lost 9 of the 10 Melta Vets inside, whioch was then assaulted by the same armoured sentinal and stomped on.

This is incorrect, you can not use a scout move to move right next to anything. you must stay more than 12 inches away.

Sory, I meant to say he moved as close as possible.
I know that they get wrecked. He is just a moron. He has been playing since 2001, when he was 5, and he doesn't know half the rules. He still thinks that rending applies to hits of 6, like in 4th ed.

And the unit inside can disembark as normal after it is wrecked on your opponents turn.

a skimmer that moves Flat-out is only wrecked if it suffers an Immobilized result on the same turn it moved Flat-out.
Unless otherwise defined, Turn always means Player Turn. This means that a Skimmer that flat-outs will only be wrecked if it went into difficult terrain and rolled a 1. if the enemy shoots it it will be completely fine.

BGB p71:
"a skimmer that is immobilised sic immediately crashes and is destroyed (wrecked) if it moved flat out in its last turn." (emphasis mine)
So, a skimmer would still be destroyed, even if it is your opponent's turn when it is immobilized. It's the passengers who survive if they make it to the next player turn.

The ruling was wrong. The BA FAQ states a Scout move counts as a previous turn for smoke, flat out, turboboost, etc.
Grakmar - immobiliSed IS the correct way to spell an English book, not Websterised American English

Well, this of course all depends on whether the book he quoted from is an American rulebook or an English one.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

That's why the US is always on top. Oh wait, except, they're under Canada. My bad. British spelling is proper.
Regardless...I suppose this is a dead horse topic now...

I speak three languages in descending order:
English, Bad English and American.
(plus those horrific abberations : franglish and spanglish )
In any case English is such a hodgepodge (vocabulary word for the day, there..) of other languages that arguments over it's proper structure and spelling are a tad redundant
