I'm painting a Exalted Hero and want blood effects on his axes. How would I make it look like he has fresh blood on his axes?

I should imagine gloss, and make it look like it ran down the metal.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.

I start with black + scab red and work my way up to blood red, using a sponge you can drag it to to my smears or just blob it, finally finish it off with gloss varnish.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I acheived the blood effect on this guy;

and these guys;

By using Tamyia Clear Red, Vallejo Black Brown, and UHU Glue. I started by using straight Tamyia Clear Red, it was applied using a short bristled, stiff brush and "blothcing" the paint on. I let is sit and dry for about 10minuets, then came back with a 2:1 mixture of Tamiya Clear Red and Vallejo Black Brown. This applied on the same manner but placed in smaller areas of concentration. Lastly I mixed some of the UHU Glue with the Tamyia Clear Red, and made the "strings" of blood.

Good luck and have fun!

I would say, Tamiya Clear Red mixed with some Red/Black Ink or the easiest way....
Basecoat Scab Red
Stipple Red Gore
Stipple Blood Red
Then give it a nice layer of Gloss Varnish.
You could simply use the GW brand Varnish if you dont want to order online and or track down other products.

Y'know when you started your post off by "I achieved the blood effect..." I thought all you were doing was showing off and not helping Thanks for the mini-tutorial, I saw your work before and loved it!
