Hey everyone, new to forum and nids, would like to start a swarmy army with flyrant to aid gargoyles.....Was thinking something like

Flyrant, ST, Lash Whip and Bone Sword

3x2 Hive Guards
3x20 hormagaunts with TS
7 Genestealers + BL with AG and ST
7 Genestealers + BL with AG and ST
20 Gargoyles with AG and TS

Something like that, but maybe ditch the second genestealers brood for something else...what do you think?

Not enough synapse on the field. A flyrant is really easy to kill and once that is gone, it won't be too hard to run the hormagaunts and gargoyles off the board (pretty easy to kill 5 models to force a moral test). You're going to want some bigger critters in there to give this army some back-bone and the pull the anti-tank fire away from the Tyrant.

Tyrant could use Old Adversary to better support the hormas/gargoyles.

Broodlords are overpriced imo. Plus toxin sacks on genestealers is really effective and well worth the points.

As noted by other you need more synapse, and id focus on either stealers or gaunts not both (of course if its stealers you need more).

Maybe drop the AG/TS on the gargoyles (these guys are gonna get shot up, so may as well keep them cheap), drop one unit of homies, drop the brood lords, and drop the ST/AG in favour of TS for the stealers.

Then add in a unit of warriors (prob 5 strong with CC setup), swap a unit of Hive Guard for 2 Zoeys and use the remaining points to increase the numbers on your stealers.

This will give you better synapse and better punch when you hit, whilst limiting your early on casualties to 6pnt models instead of 8pnt models.

Just a thought, but playtesting will always prove what works best

Good luck!

I'd actually advise keeping the AG + TS on the gargoyles. The upgrades are cheap as heck and with an OA tyrant around, they will hit like a truck.

But yeah, they are weak as hell and really need Tervigons with Catalyst around to ensure that they stick around a while.

- ST, RC 80

5 warriors
- ST, RC 150

8 genestealers + Brood ST 174
8 genestealers + Brood ST 174

3x2 Hive Guards 300
