Subject: New 40k army! Help me decide!

So, im slowly finishing all purchases for my Space wolves, but i cant decide if i want to expand my collection so that i can field a greater variety of list builds, or if i should purchase a 2nd army that plays very differently to my current one. Im currently running a fairly basic Njal list with 3 rhinos and 4 razorbacks, along with the everpresent long fangs. Now im tired of painting Tanks, so i dont really want another mech list. I'm having trouble deciding what to go with though. since SW is close range shooty force, i kinda want to avoid this again, so no razorspam, venomspam etc. I'm leaning towards pure CC, but i might as well go with an all-rounded force.
I don't want Tyranids and i dont want Orks, but other than that im open to suggestions! So, feel free to spread your ideas. I wouldnt be against playing a very focused list, like all jump pack BA etc. Ideas please!

I would suggest you use Tyranids.
But, seen as you don't want Tyranids i'd go for Orks.
But, you don't want Orks either so i'd go Grey Knights...
Grey Knights have a variety of methods. If you want opinions on the Grey Knights, have a look at my threads on my Grey Knight list, and check out some of the suggestions on it.......

Well, I WAS going to suggest Orks or Dark Eldar, considering how different they are in terms of gameplay mechanics and visual styling, but you've said enough that you're not that interested in those two.
SO.... how about Chaos Daemons? Only a single vehicle, and very close combat orientated.
Relies heavily on chance, though. Before the game starts, you divide the army into two halves. The first half deep strikes in the first turn, the second half comes in from reserve following normal reserve rules. There's also a chance the dice screw you over before you deploy, and the half you wanted in the first turn actually ends up being the half that comes in piecemeal, and the second half deep strikes first turn instead.
That said, quite a frightening army - and quite monstrous if their dice rolls for reserves and deep striking are true.

I have been tempted by GK, but decided to build SW instead. I don't want a 15 model draigowing, and crowe list is also out of the question since its too similar to my SW. Deamons are kinda cool. Hard to play, easy to personalize and theme, but would suffer horribly in the gaming group i play with ( DE, GK, GK, etc ;p).
I've been tempted building a solid eldar list for quite some time, but every time i end up not doing so. I'm also tempted building a focussed Striking Scorpions list i saw in another thread.
I was also thinking all jump pack BA, but that would go against one of the army's best Pro's: fast vehicles! :(
I might just end up just expanding my Space Wolves more to be able to field any type of army i want, whether it be Loganwing, Njal-based, or base a list around TWC or even possibly Ragnar. Oh the decisions!
Keep suggestions coming! I'm all for heavily themed armies, but there has to be some form of thought behind it and it should actually play rather well

What about Necrons? They are scheduled for a new Codex in a month or so.

With about half of the current units being gone.
In my honest opinion, being a once proud owner of over 7 3k point+ armies....
if you like puppies, stick with puppies.
if not move to something else. i found that i would switch between armies and get all messed up. yeah in my head im saying "alright! i wanna shoot something." then i play and i say "aw crap this sucks."
so if ya like em stick to them, if your unsure about them than think about how you have been playing and if you like that style.

Tau.
It is good because you get mid-costed infantry with weapons that are much better than bolters.
Plus, Crisis suits are sexy.

Yes, infantry that miss half the time and retreat if you so much as kick them.
Joking aside, Tau are a fairly decent army, and a good alternative from MEQ.
Now all they need is an update...

The issue with the Tau is the middling-level of ranged accuracy (need the drone to hit to have a good chance of hitting themselves, an odd choice for a ranged-focused codex), extremely, extremely poor CC, and the way 5th ed was designed to get armies into CC more quickly (what percentage of 5th ed codexes were NOT somehow devoted to fast melee armies?).
Also, GW shops carry them less than most other armies. I wouldn't suggest them unless a new release is scheduled soon.

Well there seem to be rumours that it has been written and is already queued. But that aside, regardless of edition, XV8s are sweet

True, I've seen them in some action, but their core is mediocre at best. Which is a shame.
One unit isn't a reason collect/play a whole new army, it's a reason to model (if you've the funds), but go for an army you like the majority of the units.
