Hey guys, this is my first time collecting WoC, and my first time in years playing fantasy again. I just nought the starter set and love the models. One model I really fell in love with is the chaos lord on manticore. I immediately ran to my army book and discovered it would be like 500 points to include in my army.

So my question is, are they worth it? Or will it always just die before I can do anything. My main opponents would be ogres and tk.

Well here is the thing, at 500 pts it cannot be included in anything below 2k pts as only up to 25% can be a lord choice. Having said that, you can get a lot more useful things for 500 points. Fun? Yes! Competitive? Not so much.

Seriously. I love it.
The paint job makes it look all fruity. But if you painted it right, it would look BA.

Lol, I'm not a fan really, but yes, I have seen examples where people have made much better work of the paint job.

I suggest a stubborn lord with a good ward save. That way when he ends up on foot (which he will, almost every game), he's still useful.

Something like, enchanted shield, 4+ ward, stubborn, mark of tzeench. Maybe a biting blade if you can squeeze it in.

I love my sorceror on a manticore, i usually have a hell of a lot of monsters in my chaos army and if they shoot the lord, there not shooting the shaggoth or giant or trolls or ogres etc., i generally run lore of heavens so they have to re-roll those 6's to wound and hit

I love the model too.

I think HawaiiMatt's suggestion seems sound, but I don't play WoC.

The only thing I can add is that you will probably do better against the TK than the Ogres, assuming that your Ogre opponents take any of the new goodies.

Thundertusks making you go last and cannonballs to the face will put a hurting on your lord and manticore.
