I don't know about you but I would like to see rules (ideally official but unofficial would do) for using insanely powerful characters and units in the game.
I would love to see Nagash in the game again laying waste to regiments at a time with magic. Or sigmar with his hammer making a giant hit himself. Aenarion with the sword of khaine casually slapping aside greater daemons as he walked along. Even something like allowing you to use real dragon princes in a high elf army instead of the modern elves that dress up there horses and pretend to have a dragon. I would like to see Malekith from when he was like Tyrion and Teclis combined after the end of the daemon invasion, for that matter I would like to see rules for the ancient army of Nagrythe that was instead of there weakling descendants in Naggaroth. Rules from the spirit of grunini airship from the Gotrek and Felix books would be brilliant. Finally if I was going to make something to go in a ancient, epic army I would start with the original vampire lords and immortals some of which served Nagash, particularly Abhorash who fought and defeated a great fire dragon in a duel atop a mountain before drinking it's blood and freeing himself from the weaknesses of vamprism.

Insanely powerful heroes? You can probably find the 4th Edition book on eBay.
More seriously, yes, a 'Time of Legends' supplement with rules for Nagash, Sigmar, et cetera might be fun. Perhaps if the speculated Horus Heresy rulebook for Warhammer 40,000 gets published and sells well we might see the idea transposed to Warhammer.

I lol at this, if they put a Characters in like that people using them armies at the time will always have them in. Making it incredibly harsh.

I didn't mean to just stick them into existing armies, I meant to have scenarios or campaigns where you can re-fight epic historical battles with epic characters.

Those games would be soo big it would be like what??????
Fantasy is harder to scale up because of magic and such where as 40k you dont have to worry about that.
This would make the game really difficult and most likely stupidly broken and people would troll and complain about yet another thing.
Having really good characters would be sweet... or you could just play woc and have them Archaon and friends.
But ya I doubt it will happen anytime soon and I mean you can do crazy stuff with super powerful things in storm of magic already sooo.

Talking about harsh, we have characters like Teclis that are over powered already for some other armies a new character might be a breath of fresh air! But still cheap lol

You're all looking at this through the typical pick up and play game, sorted out through the standard rules. The OP suggested using these characters in special scenarios, and I think that opens up a great deal of scope for interesting games.
Think about re-enacting Caledor trying to complete the magical vortex while Aenarion tries to hold off the great daemon legions, or Magnus the Pious combatting Asavar Kul.
It'd be a scenario written up by players agreeing to the force sizes, the stats of each special character, the victory conditions and any special rules to account for the scale of the battle (greater winds of magic for instance).

To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

It would be like playing 4th edition again /shudders it used to suck knowing that the rest of your army was just cannon fodder for all the uber heroes walking around.
I remember games of fourth edition where my army would not move all game except for the one or two uber characters it simply wasnt worth committing a block of troops who would be cut down in one round of combat.
Folk should be careful for they wish for herohammer was a joke I much prefer how things are now with the focus on big blocks of troops.
If I wanted to play a game based around heroes I would play d&d.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all. |

That's why it'd work best as a set of special rules for a one-off battle or campaign.
But there's also the improvement in the game system, so that with steadfast and other rules blocks of troops can now hold an uber-powerful character in place, despite the damage he can dish out. We've got a more sophisticated tactical system now, which means fights between all powerful characters and masses of grunts are a lot more interesting.

Agreed about the improvement in infantry might reduce some of the things that anoyed me about herohammer.
However I just cant see alot of these heroes taking the field for the small clashes that warhammer represents. It might work in warmaster scale tho.

Yeah, I'd definitely save it for grand battles, with 5,000+ points on each side.
The big problem I had with 40K's Apocalypse is that it didn't seem to produce any more large scale, really epic games, to put all those massive units into. Instead people just seemed to keep playing 2,000 or 3,000 point games, only with a couple of massive tanks plonked into the middle.

Well, Apocalypse's issue is that you only really get a true feel for it when you hit 5,000+ games, IMHO, where you can have full armies AND massive tanks/titans/aircraft.
Still, Warhammer Fantasy style-apocalypse with awesome special characters sounds good to me, but IMHO you'd need to hit that over 5,000 mark, where everything can be cheese and still be relatively balanced.
