Would like some C&C regarding this list. Bruiser goes in with the Ironguts while the Slaughtermaster goes in with the Bulls. Firebelly hangs back till he can do the "flying fatboy" thing.

333 | Slaughtermaster Lv4 (Ironfist, Talisman of Preservation)
214 | Firebelly Lv2 (Arabyan Carpet, Great Weapon)
193 | Bruiser (BSB, Heavy Armor, Ironfist, Rampager's Standard)
286 | Bulls x8 (FC, Ironfists)
374 | Ironguts x8 (FC)
182 | Leadbelchers x4 (Bellower)
205 | Mournfang x3 (Bellower)
021 | Sabertusk
021 | Sabertusk

I can't give you any guidance on how to play Ogres, but maybe The Ogre Stronghold (http://www.ogrestronghold.com/) can. It is a forum only for Ogres ^^

Good luck!

BSB goes into the Ironguts units since he has the banner than rerolls charge dice. Slaughtermaster goes with the Bulls because I don't want a single, obvious unit for my enemy to focus fire on.

Being screened by either the bulls or the guts depending on which unit I want to target. He's mainly there to hunt regenerating units and to help tear apart units from the flank with templates.

I would drop the Talisman of Preservation on the SM and take the Armor of Destiny instead.

5 more points gets you a 5+ armor save in addition to the 4+ ward. the ironfist then makes the 5+ into a 4+.

I would also drop 1 of the leadbeltchers so you can get Ironfists and HA on the mournfangs. 2+ armor and 6+ parry is too good to pass up.

Has that been FAQd? I thought the their ability to take Ironfists was how people were justifying giving them armor.

Runnin up on ya.

No FAQ just people wanting them to be pitiful like human and elf wizards instead of tough and killy like Chaos sorcerers.

Ironfist is a special shield.

ergo they can take armor.

Anyone know how GW produce faqs?

Do they produce them when there are enough issues to be addressed together?
Or do they make a faq right away when they see a mistake?

Generally they do both.

obvious mistakes/typos are delt with in the Errata, questions they put in the FAQ.

GW actually gets most FAQ questions by looking over the various forum sites and see what is contentious. I garuntee they are on the Ogre Stronghold(even post there sometimes) looking at whats being talked about.

Functions as a shield Not a shield thou. its one of those silly race specific thing that's armor but not really.

Ergo no armor

'It follows the exact rules for shields'.
Seems pretty cut and dry to me and haven't heard nary a peep of disquiet from an opponent yet.

"The only exception to [magical interference] is when a Wizard has armour as part of his standard equipment or an option for 'normal' armour, such as light armour, or a shield."

Note "such as".

Fact: Ironfist is standard equipment for Slaughtermasters
Fact: Ironfist is considered mundane armor
Fact: Slaughtermaster can equip mundane armor so he can equip magic armor.

RAW.

I respectifully disagree but hey thewhen the faq catches up we'll know for sure . til then I'll keep my opinion. cause RAW is work exactly like a shield not a shield. no referance to being concidered armor but as all greats I'll be shouted down by the mob of I want awsomeness!

"Works exactly like a shield"

One of the functions of a shield is that if you can take one you are qualified for Magic Armor.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it is.

Yeah but you're neglecting the words "such" and "as" which means that it's not a comprehensive list and what follows are examples. There are various other items that are armor and are not in the list like helms. It doesn't have to be a shield to be a piece of armor.

If it's not a shield then my tyrant can take an ironfist AND an enchanted shield which would give him a 2+ save with heavy armor and be really cheap. This is one of those discussions where an ogre player will win regardless.

You're right though, we can agree to disagree.

Cheers.

The only wizards I know of who can use armor are chaos sorcerors...and they come with chaos armor standard as a pretty good indication that they can cast with it on.

Anyway.

I'd give your slaughtermaster an additional hand weapon. The 6+ parry doesn't stack with your talisman, and the 6+ armor is usually negated. The extra attack can't hurt right?

Also, have you had luck with leadbelchers? Seems like their low BS gets in the way.

You don't take negatives for multi-shot or moving so you're 4+ at 1/2 and 5+ at long and d6 shots each...yeah they rock. If you rolled like a god, you'd get 24 shots out of a unit of 4. My usual unit of 3 averages 9-13 shots per turn.

I dont feel the Firebelly should be outside a unit. He doesnt seem very survivable.

hitting on 5's is kinda the problem. Average 3 shots per belcher, 2/3 miss. that 1 hit has a 1/2 chance of not wounding agianst anything but fodder, so you're, on average, not even scoring a wound with each ogre. Obviously the possibility for 24 shots to come out of that unit is cool, but that's still 8 hits...4 wounds? Ogre shooting seems overrated. Except that cannon chariot.

its actually 3.5 shots on average if there are multiple leadbeltchers, rounds to 4. Besides its impossable to calculate the average for a single leadbeltcher because all results are equally likely.

4 Leadbeltchers will average 14 shots, hitting on 5s at long range, 4s at short. 5 hits at long range, 7 at short. being able to more and fire with no penelty means they can close the gap if needed to make it more.

Then there are the Above Average results of 5-6 shots per leadbeltcher which when combined with the average result means they will perform pretty well most of the time. that and being able to shoot every turn helps.

Ogre leadbelchers are best in units of 6 with full command to allow them to reform to face any problems which may arise.
