Depends on which codex you play, what else is in your army, what you face and what you want them to do. Do a search for razorback since there's been about a gagillion topics on this already

As mentioned there is no single answer to this question. If you want an aggressive short ranged transport then you take the Assault Cannon (really only works well on Blood Angel Razors, who have the speed to get around the short range). If you want a long range anti vehicle/heavy infantry then the Las Plas Razor is the way to go. I generally rate the T/L Las version as slightly inferior to the Las Plas, but does hold a slight edge if you desperately need the extra long ranged anti tank. The other version is the Heavy Bolter Razorback, which with Psybolts in a GK list is a cheap and powerful option.

I agree with this to a degree. It would also depend a bit on the map/terrain and foes.

sometimes I'd rather just use a rhino and have my psycannons shoot out of the top with assault 2 vs the 3 HB shots if I'm gonna be in range anyway i.e. due to terrain blocking LOS. (cheaper option) I generally use rhinos to just be a pain and tank shock everything/ram other tanks after troops get off too. *good in MSU purifier crowe shooty lists*

If I'm gonna go psybacks, It'd be for more open terrains and if I want a long range stand off/dismounted combat. Usually not bothering to tank shock in order to keep shooting

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

As a Dark Eldar player myself, I think every razorback should have a twin-linked lascannon on it.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

Depends on your codex, role of the tank, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Las/Plas: arguably best all-around, particularly since it takes 2 weapon destroyed results to neutralize and offers good range and ROF, especially for BA which can move 6 and fire everything

TL Lascannon: only good for backfield support tanks. If you're advancing with troops, there are better options.

TL Assault Cannon: best on GK, BA. GK for psybolt ammo, BA for fast movement to get in range and acquire side armor shots. Versatile gun but don't get too dependent on the rends for anti-armor or you'll be disappointed.

TL Heavy Flamer: really only a BA option, as it turns it into an old-school Immolator for cheap anti-infantry support. Best with melta units inside for the 12" move, disembark, de-mech enemy, and fry contents maneuver. A cheap option if running short on points.

TL Heavy Bolter: only with GK psybolt ammo. Otherwise, you might as well get a rhino for the firing points.

What would be good in a Vulkan list? The HF are already TL, so that is not a important reason. It would help as the rest of the army is close range though.

For a Vulkan list, I think Rhinos with tac squads are better. Your special weapons are twin-linked, and you can shoot from the hatch. Plus they have more staying power than just 5-6 men. Staying plus twin-linked close range firepower? Yes please.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

Definitely stick with rhinos and full tac squads for vulkan. Seriously. Twin linked meltagun and then combi-weapon or squad heavy weapon (if holding still)? Yay!

Actually I think the assault cannon is as good as the twin linked lascannon. Someone did the mathematics at some point. The number of shots means getting rends is not too unlikely compared to rolling badly with the lascannon.

I did the math on TL-Las, Las/Plas and TL-AC against vehicles here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/355350.page#2598068

The short version is that the TL-AC is a bit better against vehicles than Las/Plas, although most of the value is against vehicles and in destroying, as opposed to shaking/stunning. The Las/Plas is quite a bit more versatile, it's great against Grey Knights and helps against TH/SS Terminators, and is more robust, as it takes two weapon destroyed results to get rid of all its weapons.

TL-Las is pretty inferior to both. The extra hit probability is not worth the loss of versatility.

I personally use only Las/Plas in my BA army.

Le basic HB back. It's cheaper than the others, the TL makes the bolters more reliable and it's generally pretty good. I also like the Assault cannon back though, because of the sheer firepower

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.
