They look pretty cool to me, the old ones were pretty dull. The barge looks well, cack though...

Why is this bad? It isn't. At least, not that I can tell. Personally, I liked the little green rods, but whatever. This looks like it could be cool.

A couple of those pieces look like recycled ideas from Dark Eldar: the barge is probably open-topped with a ridiculous gun on it, the scorpion looking thin looks a bit like a Talos...

I've yet to see the warriors, and those are the deciding factor for me, honestly I don't like this look for the necrons. I saw them as a mass of uniform troops, with little need of ornamentation or any sort of shiny patterning to them. These look like King tut's tomb just barfed onto the terminator.

I'm assuming Warriors, Destroyers, and Monoliths will remain the same, and not get new kits.

I do not like Beasts of War at all, but I don't think that this reflects badly on GW for any reason. If anything it gives GW reason to be mad at BoW.

Unless, as has been theorized, it's actually a calculated leak by GW.

Doubtful that it is, but the only alternative is that someone at the printing company for White Dwarf is leaking the info.

GW could avoid some of this if they weren't so absurdly secretive. Look at most model and toy companies, they announce future releases up to a year in advance and show off some of the goodies. People then know what to expect and roughly when, but at least know that it's not available for order.

It's hardly a surprise that when pictures appear that people think they are imminent, that's the GW way now. I wouldn't blame BoW entirely for this, GW foster the situation.

The real question is why independent stores aren't supplied with product lists and prices well in advance. It's quicker for some of them to look it up online than rely on GW who seem to think stores should just get deliveries blind.

Kool, if everyone hates the necrons...than that means people wont be playing them so I could be the "unique guy" at the store with a "less seen" army

But anyway, as long as the rules are fine, and the models look this good, I'm going to be saving up for some Necrons

I am with you on that. They might be ok for the odd bit of news, as we have just seen, but overall their "presenters" don't sound they know what they're talking about half the time. Was watching one vid where the guy who said he didn't play whatever game it was, ever, started giving tactics for the game. Plus there is now the subscribe to us and give us money drive that permeates them, I am surprised they didn't start posting "we have pics of new necron stuff, but pay us to see them backstage!"

The article in the OP has a point in one regard. With stores not having a clue about whats out when, costs etc how can they answer their customers? Customer service is key in games stores imo where good knowledgable staff will have customers coming back. Am very interested to see what GW will be doing in return or if there is now going to be a secrect pact where BoW gets to "leak" news

Why its good:
I KNOW I will need at least 3 transports. My guess is 2 heavy slots will be for the cannon, so I buy 3-4.

I KNOW I need more Immortals, so 2-3

All the IC get bought.

2 Command Barges

2-3 of the Lychguard and Preatorians

2-3 Flayed Ones (who will look better with more gore).

That's just my from the hip order.

Gore will just make them look like they are posing in a weird way with red paint splattered around unless you really can handle paint on minis and have the technique to pull it off.
The problem I have with the Flayed Ones is that the poses look odd. It looks like someone playing at being creepy and stalking on the battlefield looking around for victims, rather than nasty robots mechanically doing nasty robot stuff.

Wow booh-F'ing-hoo please just don't sell them. What a store to complain that people are calling wanting to buy stuff. Shut your doors if it bothers you so much. That is why I stick with discount eretailers.

The only things I don't like are those Flayed Ones. At least two of them look like they're doing some kind of ballet move, and one of them is about to kick that rock into the goal. And they really look like they're just covered in flesh-colored bandages.

Maybe I'm just completely lost when it comes to model politics, but I don't see a problem.

As for the models themselves it's overall pretty good. They went all out on the Egyptian stuff for lords but everyone else is pretty much the same. I'm not seeing all the ornamentation that was supposed to be with the new Immortals (patterns seems easy to paint over/replace), but I guess the Lych and Praetorian fill those roles. Also the guys with sniper-riflelike guns don't seem to have the whole skull/skeleton thing for some reason.

The barge is kinda dumb, but I personally can't think of many designs for a Necron vehicle...I'm still kinda bummed there's no teleportation/obelisk stuff going on.

The only thing that looks goofy is the Chariot thing, which is pretty cool but marred by the silly 2 warriors who are driving it. They seem way out of place, otherwise a flying throne of doom is kinda neat.

I agree the flayed ones look a bit.....naff. It worries me a bit that all of the uniqueness is beeing sucked out. Suddenly they have transports (like everyone else..), and the Preatorians and Lychgguard look strikingly like didcated CC units-and direct ports from WHFB to boot. And look! A sniper unit (just like everyone else..).

Overall, I would be reasonably happy if I played 'Crons. The Immortals and lords look great IMO. I don't think the Arks LOOK bad, I just wonder if they are actually needed; I much prefered the teleport ideas mooted by various people. Only the Preatorians and Flayed ones look flat out bad to me. I like the attempt to make things look a bit more dynamic. I realise people liked to faceless mono pose of the older models-but we still have to see the warriors and I would hazard a guess they would be as facesless as ever.

I'd be interested to see the codex now....
