One of the pedalcrons has a computer mouse, I'm sure of it.
If not for the fact that this model was finalized about two months ago, I'd say it was a tribute to Steve Jobs.

No such information has been release by GW to retailers. Nor am i going to go to market with information that is not confirmed, or that is against policy.

Let me put it like this.

Because of BoW's actions less folks will be inclined to go to their FLGS to see the new figs firsthand. THey will not spend as much money on impulse buys and or pre-ordering the models because they have seen them, the newness has worn off, or they already bought them online from someone who should not have had them for sale.

For a local shop that influx of money and interest keeps them going. Its what an LGS needs to survive. Lets face it not every store is run and or stocked properly. Now imagine them just losing 5% in sales because of this. Well that could equate out to $500-600 in profits just because someone opened their big mouth. Just one person from that store buying online cause they couldn't wait until that store could legally sell the items could easily cost them a $300-400 sale cause that's about what the start to an army costs these days.

Now image that across the board to the estimated 500-800 stores just in America. say $320,000 in lost sales if one person at each store bought online because they couldn't wait. That is over a quarter of a million dollars in realistic? theoretical lost sales because of this. Course the actual numbers will vary, i'm just spit-balling here. An that is not every counting every sale GW would make off their site, which I am sure is higher that all the LGS's combined.

So yeah the sky may not be falling, but its certainly cloudy with a chance of rain.

I hope this break down helps. I invested a ton of money and hard work into my store so yes when stuff like this happens I will take stand.

I will give you a counter-point from a business minded consumer.

I HATE GW's new policy of keeping the masses in the dark over new releases until a week or two before street dates. As you so aptly pointed out, starting out a new army costs a lot of money, but even existing players of said army typically spend upwards of $100-$200 when a new wave of models/codex comes out. Without knowing ahead of time what is coming out, how is anybody supposed to have that money ready to go, thus driving your sales? Typically, we don't. And some people who want to play the game no matter what take the (less) money they have and save on discount websites. I do not do that personally, though 2 of my close friends are notorious for it.

I am thankful, as will be my FLGS store owner, that BoW posted these leaks (and wayland's price schedule) in advance of the preorder cut-off because It gave me time to list a few super-heavy models on eBay that will, once sold, give me enough money so that I can spend $400 or more on all these flashy new models to flesh out my collection, all on release day.

Give the people advance knowledge of what is coming out and your sales will be higher, not lower. Discount sellers are going to be a thorn in B&M stores' sides no matter what, but not because of advance pictures/black boxes being released to retailers. GW's business model absolutely sucks right now.

Meh, i greatly dislike the tombkings in space look of some of the miniatures.
Ah well, since i am not playing Necrons i don't care too much. Still, the older, more sinister look was better.

That is what I thought, but I do not understand why GW uses this means of releasing new products.
To my non retailers' eyes it seems like they are being unduly unconcerned about inconveniencing you.

Just look at the effect the breaking news had yesterday. It swamped BoW and even had some problems loading Dakka pages.
If I had an online gaming site and I got this news I would have not sat on it thinking it might hurt the retailers.
Some players have been waiting years for this. The rumours threads have been active all summer with the expectancy of an autumn/winter Necron release.
No one in their right mind would just sit on the leak. They didn't put the news out there to spite you, but to inform the punters.

GW really need to stop piddling about with this secrecy nonsense and communicate with retailers and customers alike.

To the OP: Its not BoW fault GW won't even give its retail partners a heads up on whats in the pipeline. They wouldn't even have to give you exact dates. just a list of things to come sometime this year or quarter. Yes its annoying for you to not be able to provide overly eager consumers a product yet due to a leak (though this seems staged to me). It seems to me that you are in the tough position of doing business with a company that doesn't actually care if survive due to the fact that you are actually their competition as well. How are you suppose to plan for future expanses when you don't even know whats coming till we do? You are getting screwed but not by Beasts its by GW.

Wow you totally missed the big picture. First off I am both a discount seller and a brick and mortar (heck to thrive in this age as a store you have to have an online presence). Second how am i supposed to sell them for the next two weeks, when I dont know how much they cost, or what I can even order ie thats not direct.

This isnt about GW's policy its about how supposedly a retailer leaked the pics to a media site, who posted them all over the world.

Oh and now wayland has necrons up for pre-order with prices and sku's. Okay so the rumors about Wayland and Beast of War being one in the same cant be true at all. nope....

Wayland is hurting our hobby by going to market two weeks early, and crapping on all of the US/Canada, and Australia. They want to corner the market, and break the rules fine. Its not like they can ship out of the UK/Europe. But this weekend has made them a ton of enemies, most notably; Games Workshop.

Well then as a businessman you should probably keep your personal opinions, personal and not put a blog up on your site bitching about people. I have a ton of issues with allot of different people and subjects but I leave that gak at the door. I manage my store and do what my employers expect of me and leave personal business where it belongs. Though I am not a customer of yours, you have not lost me as a customer, but you have assured that you will never gain me as a customer either. And I'm sure I am not the only one.

I really don't know what to make of these miniatures. I really do like the supposed rules for them. Yet every time I look at the "lords" I keep wondering why GW has made a model for the Fruity yummy mummy.

Those flayed ones are just stupid looking. The one on the far right is running for feths sake. Necrons shouldnt be running and the one carrying the corpse is hedious and not in a good way either. I dont half mind that overlord though. He's kinda cool.

Necron Lords still have most if not all of their personality so names are fine.
